Delight yourself in the Lord :)

I decided not to do a woman's bible study right now while Jakson is so young. The bibles studies were all starting when Jakson was about 1 month old and it was just awkward timing to start a bible study. So I have been doing Beth Moore's, Whispers of Hope. It is an awesome daily devotion book and I am loving it and loving what it is teaching me. This is a devotion that I recently did and LOVED so much that I wanted to share it.

"Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart." Ps.37:4

I have always loved this verse. What human wouldn't love it. We are selfishly motivated humans. The first thing I love about it is the end result, and he will give you the desires of your heart. AWESOME. So, if you go back and read the first half, you have to delight yourself in the Lord...then you will get those desires of your heart. Easy enough, right? :)

What you don't realize is that when you truly delight yourself in the Lord, God makes Himself the seekers delight. When you delight yourself in the Lord you develop a delightful relationship with Him. Your self-seeking motives will be transformed. That just amazes me. I have never, ever thought of this verse in this way. Beth Moore states, When he is our delight, we begin to want what he wants. We no longer want anything that lacks his approval.

Jeremiah 17:9 says, "The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure." This is exactly why we need God to transform our hearts. What our fleshy hearts desire on our own can lead us to make some of the worst decisions of our lives. SO TRUE, and I know that I have learned that in the past. In the end, I WANT MY HEART'S DESIRE TO REFLECT HIS DESIRES.- LOVE LOVE LOVE this!

So no matter what our motive was in the beginning, we will discover a treasure worth hunting in the end- a new depth to our relationship with God.

That's all. Thanks for listening :)

I will leave you with this sweet sweet smile...
