What a difference a year makes!

This past weekend we made a trip to Greenville, SC to Josh's sister's for our nephew's 1st birthday party! Crazy to think that at this time last year we were making a trip over there to see the little newborn and tell them that we were expecting!

Oh my, how the Lord works in amazing ways.

Look how much things have changed in a year...

(about 3 weeks pregnant...)

Here we are with our 4 month old!

Jakson's Scottish Rite visit

Last weekend while I had the stomach bug I still had to watch Jakson. My parents were home that night and helped me out. I was really hoping that he wouldn't get the bug, but unfortunately he did :(

Sunday he started throwing up. I am talking, not his normal spit up. He wasn't keeping anything in his belly and all he wanted to do was sleep. So on Monday when he barely ate and wasn't holding anything down we called the doctor, and they told us to head down to Scottish Rite. We waited for a couple of hours. Once they saw Jaks they gave him an IV and he got fluids for an hour. Then we "baby bird" fed him a pedialyte. They then let me nurse him and he held everything down. They tested his electrolytes and everything looked good. They let us go home at 11pm. We were so thankful to get out of there with a healthy baby. As soon as we got home, hubby started throwing up :( We hope that stomach bug stays away from us now. It was no fun for any of us!

Jaks before he got his IV. He was so happy which was so crazy since he hadn't eaten once all day. The nurse told us that he won her cutest patient of the day award :)

Jaks sleeping in his daddy's arms while getting fluids. Watching my sweet little angel with the IV in his arm really made me think about how blessed we are to have a healthy child. There are so many parents who basically live in hospitals with their sick children. It just doesn't seem fair and it really made my heart ache for them.

Stomach bug, change of plans :(

This past weekend Jakson and I were supposed to fly out to Dallas to meet Josh and his family. Well I woke up at 2am not feeling so hot. I won't go into details, but it wasn't good. I got about 1 hour of sleep and got my mom up at about 6 am to tell her about how I was feeling. I didn't know what to do. I basically had to make the decision to catch my 11 am flight feeling the way I did, or stay home. I weighed everything out to make the best decision. I was throwing up and nauseous and I didn't think the plane ride would be much fun, and I didn't want to get everyone on the plane sick and all of the family once I got to TX. So, I made the decision that I would just stay home. I was so bummed. I was so excited about getting out to Texas. Also, this may sound stupid but I was packed perfectly. I had the diaper bag PERFECT, our carry-on bag PERFECT, my stroller, READY. Ugh...so disappointing :(

Friday was spent sleeping and watching Jakson. I was nauseous, achy and feverish all day. He did SO great while I wasn't feeling well. Saturday morning I got out of bed feeling so much better. My head still wasn't feeling right until Sunday morning. But thankfully everything else had passed through my system.

Then Saturday afternoon I took Jakson and the dogs in the front yard and we layed on a blanket and just enjoyed the sun.

Jakson loved the warm sun

This was our first time outside with short sleeves and no socks!

We also got to go to my nephew A.J's baseball game. He was catcher and did a wonderful job. It was so cute watching him! I can't believe how fast that little cutie is growing up!

The star of the game

Haha, they are so cute!

Jaks can't wait until he can play too!

Delight yourself in the Lord :)

I decided not to do a woman's bible study right now while Jakson is so young. The bibles studies were all starting when Jakson was about 1 month old and it was just awkward timing to start a bible study. So I have been doing Beth Moore's, Whispers of Hope. It is an awesome daily devotion book and I am loving it and loving what it is teaching me. This is a devotion that I recently did and LOVED so much that I wanted to share it.

"Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart." Ps.37:4

I have always loved this verse. What human wouldn't love it. We are selfishly motivated humans. The first thing I love about it is the end result, and he will give you the desires of your heart. AWESOME. So, if you go back and read the first half, you have to delight yourself in the Lord...then you will get those desires of your heart. Easy enough, right? :)

What you don't realize is that when you truly delight yourself in the Lord, God makes Himself the seekers delight. When you delight yourself in the Lord you develop a delightful relationship with Him. Your self-seeking motives will be transformed. That just amazes me. I have never, ever thought of this verse in this way. Beth Moore states, When he is our delight, we begin to want what he wants. We no longer want anything that lacks his approval.

Jeremiah 17:9 says, "The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure." This is exactly why we need God to transform our hearts. What our fleshy hearts desire on our own can lead us to make some of the worst decisions of our lives. SO TRUE, and I know that I have learned that in the past. In the end, I WANT MY HEART'S DESIRE TO REFLECT HIS DESIRES.- LOVE LOVE LOVE this!

So no matter what our motive was in the beginning, we will discover a treasure worth hunting in the end- a new depth to our relationship with God.

That's all. Thanks for listening :)

I will leave you with this sweet sweet smile...

Jakson is 4 months old

(We aren't home so I don't have you in your normal set-up. I will do that as soon as we get home from Texas)

Happy St.Patrick's Day :) I can't believe you are 4 months old today, baby! You are just growing up WAY too fast for your momma! I just love you to pieces and can't get enough of you. I am so blessed to get to stay home with you everyday. That smile, giggle and voice will never get old :) And don't even get me started on those cheeks..oh I just eat them up everyday!

Here is what you are up to at 4 months...

-You are in size 2 diapers

-You wear either 0-3mo or 3-6 mo depending on the brand

-Not sure of your weight and height. You go in March 31st for your 4 mo check up so we will find out then

-You have gone to the doctor for a sick visit once so far. It was just a cold, thankfully

-You are still sleeping 6-7 hours at night, with the exception of when you are sick or momma ate something to upset your tummy

-You went in your crib once...then you got sick, so momma let you sleep with momma and daddy

-You are starting to grab your toys and take them straight to your mouth

-You put EVERYTHING in your mouth. Your hands, blankets, toys, burp cloth...doesn't matter. If you have a grip on it, it is in your mouth

-You are getting so good at laying on your stomach and holding your head up. You will get tired after a while and just lay it down

-You have rolled over twice but you don't want to do it again

-You discovered your feet a couple of weeks ago and it was the cutest thing ever.

-You talk and talk and TALK!

And of course, you love your momma and daddy and we LOVE you!! We can't wait to see what this next month brings. These little milestones are so fun to watch you accomplish!

I love you Jaks (:

Our recent crazy life...

This past weekend Josh and I decided to do a little bathroom make-over. Friday night we went to Home depot and got all of the supplies and picked out paint. We decided on a darker gray...I LOVE IT! Then on Saturday hubby painted the bathroom while Jakson and I played. He also ripped out the shower door that was a bit outdated. We got a shower stall liner and we are on the search for a shower stall curtain. I bought a standard size curtain and might just end up cutting and sewing it to make it work since I can't find one. I love the bathroom though and can't wait to see the final product. The gray and brown look great together. I took some before pictures so when it is all done I will put up the before and after pictures.

Saturday night Josh and I went on a date. I LOVE date nights with my hubby. We went and got mexican, did some shopping at Bed and Bath, and got some coldstone cake batter icecream, MY FAVORITE! It was a wonderful night and thanks to my wonderful parents for babysitting Jakson.

Sunday I went on a run with my mom and allison. Our long runs are up to 7 miles now. I am loving doing my training with my mom. We try to meet up to run as much as we can during the week and weekend. We have a park that is pretty much halfway between my house and her office. I probably drive her crazy as I talk her ear off but I love getting to spend the time with her. I am so thankful to have such a close relationship with my mommy. I love her so much and I am so thankful to get to spend time with her as much as I do!

So, Jakson's crib days didn't last for long, ooopsy! We had put Jakson is his crib one night and then he got sick with a nasty cough and congestion the next day. So for the past week he has been coughing all night long and up about every hour or every other hour. Soo needless to say, he has been in Mommy and Daddy's bed. Last night he slept so much better so I am thinking that he will be back in the crib soon.

What an adventure I had today! First of all, Jaks did SO great while I was in the dentist. He is learning to play with his carseat toys so when he woke up he played with his little musical froggy. While the dentist had his hands all in my mouth, Jaks made quite the little poopy in his carseat and gave us all a laugh. Of course, it's hard to laugh while he is drilling away at my teeth. After the appointment I went out to the car to change his diaper and to my surprise it was the WORST poopy he has ever had. I am talking down the leg, up the back, and in his diaper. Lovely, I know. So yeah, I guess you could say I am slowly breaking my car in :) Poop was all over him, me and my seats and floor...yuck. All I can say is thank goodness for leather seats. I will have to work on cleaning the floorboard this afternoon. I couldn't help but just laugh and Jaks did the same. Glad we both got a kick out of it. It was a mess! Oh that little pooper of mine, LOVE HIM!

Josh leaves for Texas tomorrow. Jakson and I will be staying with my parents until Friday, when we fly out to meet him in Dallas. His cousin is getting married on Sunday and we will fly back together on Monday. I am excited and nervous all at the same time. I will let you know how he does on his first flight. I wish Josh would be with us but he has to work :( I will be with my father in law and sister in law and nephew, so thats good! I am excited to get out to Texas and see family out there!

Hope everyone is having a great Monday. Little man just woke up so I gotta go get him and play!

Jakson's first night in his crib

Yesterday the nice UPS man dropped off Jakson's monitor, so I decided it would be the night he started sleeping in his crib.

He has been sleeping from about 11-6 or 7, except for Monday night when he woke up at 3 and 6:30. But I decided that might have just been a one night thing so I was going to put him in his crib anyways.

Jakson started getting sleepy eyes at 10:45 so I told Josh lets go do it. He looked at me like I was crazy. Apparently, he didn't think I was serious about it. He got all deep on me and started talking about how he couldn't believe how fast Jakson is growing up. It was kind of cute hearing him talk like that :)

So we did our nightly routine up in his room. It was a family affair. I rocked Jakson in his glider and nursed him while Josh and the pups laid on the floor. We swaddled Jaks up and found a good spot for his monitor for now. We will eventually mount it to the ceiling above his crib. We got the Summer's infant best view video monitor. It is pretty awesome. I can watch him all night and it does the whole pan, scan and zoom for when he starts moving at night :)

The monitor has little LED lights on it for the night vision feature and it was the CUTEST thing ever. We put Jaks down, kissed him goodnight, turned off the lights and went downstairs. Jakson just stared at the monitor. He looked like the most adorable little deer in headlights. His big eyes just stared at us in the moniter until they turned to sleepy eyes and shut. Oh my gosh, I cried. And of course Josh just had to say it- "why are you crying!?" I responded with, "shut up." Nice, huh? But he quickly realized that he shouldn't make fun of me. He needs to get used to me being an emotional mommy. I just feel like my sweet little baby is growing up so fast.

So we went to bed...well I should say Josh went to bed. I stared at Jakson for about an hour. Every little noise he made, I would look at the monitor. Of course, it was just a deep breath. It was just so weird having him upstairs while we are downstairs. I finally dozed off and woke up at 3 to his sweet little cry. I seriously have never been so happy to hear his cry at 3am. I went upstairs and nursed him in the glider. Put him back down at 3:30 and he woke up again at 7. I went and got him and put him in bed with me while Josh was getting ready for work.

I'm not sure why he is waking up at 3 again but hopefully he isn't getting into a habit of this. I'm so proud of my little baby even though I missed him like crazy.

Sunday, FUNday :)

After church I made Josh take a few pictures with us and our little chunk chunk :)

Josh and I wanted to do something today to get out of the house and enjoy the gorgeous weather, so we decided to head up to Rome, Ga. Rome is only 15 minutes from our house and we haven't been there since we have been married.

Jakson and I by the river

He loves his sling :]

What a fun day!!

We just drove up there and went down by the river. It was so pretty and Josh took lots of pictures of me and Jakson. I was very thankful because I don't have too many of just the two of us when I am actually looking decent and showered.

We had a wonderful day. After the river we ate an early dinner at Panera Bread, got some starbucks and did a little TJMaxx shopping. It was so much fun and I loved every second with my two boys. Thankfully Jakson is back to his normal self and is over his yucky sickness. It was a rough end of the week but we are all good now!

I am so excited about the weather tomorrow. it is supposed to be 67 degrees :) too bad I will be getting a cavity filled...bummer.

This weather is CrAzY!

Yesterday Jakson and I met my mom at the park to run in the beautiful 60 degree weather.

Today I wasn't able to make it to my sisters house to spend the night because of how much slush was on the roads from all of the SNOW.

Hmm, just a little weird to me. And I wonder why we are all getting sick!

Oh well. So Jakson and I were able to make it to my mom and dad's house so we didn't have to stay home alone while Josh is on a business trip. I am SUCH a baby.

We did have a very lazy but fun day. I love getting to spend time with my parents and I know that Jakson enjoys it too.

We are excited to spend the night at my sister's house tomorrow night. Haha, I feel homeless :/

Anyways, it's bed time and we are missing daddy. Goodnight :)

Here are some pictures that I took tonight...

He is getting so good at holding his head up

I just love this little cutie
