oh hey there :)

i thought i would get a blog post in while Henny benny naps and jaks is playing...

yesterday we took a fun trip to the zoo! We went with my mom, sister and her kids, sister in law and her kids, and my friend Jess and her daughter. there were LOTS of kiddos and it was so fun! They had a blast playing with each other and seeing all of the animals. i was pretty excited about taking jakson because he is very interested in animals right now. of course he had a blast because he got to run around with his cousins and friends all. day. long.

what a fun filled day. i absolutely love getting to stay at home with my boys so i can do fun things like go to the zoo whenever we want :) this job is the BEST!

All About Henry

Now, on to our second little man-- Henry Tate also known as HT, Hen, HenHen, Henny and "Honrey"~thanks to jaksonian for that one :)

I can't believe that this tiny guy is already 7 1/2 months. He sure is a smiley little guy just like his brother always was. I swear henry is determined to be running around with his brother as soon as possible!

I haven't been blogging his monthly updates like I did with jaks. it is impossible to find time to blog. these boys keep me moving that is for sure. So here is what henry tate is up to~

He is still in size 2 diapers and wears a few 3-6 month clothes but mostly 6 months.

He weighs around 16.6 lbs according to my scale. he is a little booger!

Henry started crawling at 6 months.

He got his first two teeth at 6 months. (this totally shocked me bc Jakson didn't get any teeth until 11 months)

He started pulling up 7 months. and he now pulls up and tries to cruise along the furniture. He loves to stand up while holding onto your fingers and tries to walk.

If you stand him up and let go of him he will stand for a second or so! I will be shocked if he doesn't start walking soon.
{It is so funny to see him doing this stuff bc he is so tiny. it just looks like that shouldn't be happening yet!}

He loves the water. bath time is his favorite :)

Henry loves his brother and cracks up at him all of the time. We will be driving in the car and the two of them will just be cackaling at each other in the back, i love those moments!

He hated baby food just like jakson. He would throw up after eating rice cereal and hated the texture of baby food. So at about 6 1/2 months he wasn't eating food and was wanting to nurse every hour or so..i was stressed and tired. then one day he decided that he wanted to start eating table food. Now as long as whatever we are eating is soft enough he can just eat with us! I love this because i am not stressing about trying to feed him and myself. he feeds himself and makes a big ol' mess!

Henry now loves the dogs and loves crawling all over them and getting lots of slobbery kisses :)

oh and he is still bald with some fuzz!

We love you sweet baby boy! Hopefully it won't take me so long to do your next update :)

All About Jakson.

This post is all about Jakson. our happy little two year old who is also known as jaks, jaksonian, wild man, jak jak, mess, booger and little man.

I love this dude. He is such a joy to be around...most of the time ;) He is a little shy around people he doesn't know very well and an entertainer when around those he knows very well. (just like mommy and daddy)

He learns new words everyday. He gets to talking fast and speaks his usual gibberish but then he will throw in a real word every now and then.

He can kind of say his ABC's...and it is adorable! (thank you to Super Why for that!)

He loves his family. The little guy is so blessed with amazing great grandparents and grandparents that love him so much! He has 2 cousins on Josh's side who we wish he could see more bc they have so much fun when we get together. They live about 3 hours away so we get to see them every couple of months or so. He has 7 cousins on my side of the family and it is CRAZINESS when they all get together. and jakson loves them all. and of course he loves all of his awesome aunts and uncles too!

He is obsessed, and i mean OBSESSED, with Super Why or "Bupper Why" as Jaks would say. Oh my goodness, Josh and i are soooo tired of those same 4 episodes on OnDemand and i could probably quote them by heart. But when that sweet little guy gets that look on his face while he hands you the remote and then says "bupper why, bupper why, bupper why." You can't help but change the channel to Bupper Why. He is even learning letters from watching super why which is why i am thankful that he is obsessed with an educational show.

He knows blue, red, yellow and green.

He loves anything with water in it!

He loves all things boy-- balls, bats, cars, big trucks and dirt.

He loves to dress and undress himself.He loves shoes and always puts them on the right feet.

His socks have to be on perfectly. they have to feel right or he freaks out until you get it right. (he totally got that from me)

He goes to preschool 3 days a week. He loves his friends in his class and his teacher. He learns so much and it is a great little escape for him!

He loves sleep but only when he is in his own bed. Vacations aren't really relaxing these days. He will go to sleep and then wake up screaming in the middle of the night. We can try to calm him down, walk around, turn on the tv, lay him in bed with us, give him milk...nothing works. we can't figure it out and i don't know if we ever will. i am really hoping it is something that he will grow out of soon.

He recently learned how to climb out of his crib so we are in the process of making his nursery into his big boy room! I can't wait to see how he adjusts to the change.

He is his daddy's mini-me. We get comments every where we go about how much they look alike. and the funny thing is we see a lot of Josh in Jakson's personality as well.

He loves his little brother. he still likes to love on his brother but there have been some changes recently. Henry now crawls and pulls up on to everything and jakson likes to push him away or give him a gentle nudge every now and then. We are working on that...but i know this is only the beginning of the brotherly love :)

I can't believe that our once 5lb 7oz baby is now our tall and skinny jakson man!

josh and i decided to take our family pictures this past Sunday since we were way over due for some pictures.

We also took the big Gernatt family picture. i love watching how much our family grows in our Christmas card picture every year! i am praying for even more babies to be in the christmas card picture next year!!

We wanted to put the pups in the christmas card pictures this year so of course that ended up being quite the challenge :) and last minute we decided to all hop in the back of hubby's jeep for the pictures.

oh my gosh i stink at blogging these days. it is SO hard to find the time to do it. i feel like i am constantly doing something and when there is down time around here i can find plenty of other things to do. So here it goes...

here is what the Burfitt's have been up to the past couple of weeks~

Our nephew Westin was born. he is adorable and perfect. i love being an aunt...it never gets old :)

Jakson turned two. We woke up the morning of his birthday and made birthday cake pancakes- yum!
Daddy even went into work late so he could eat breakfast with us. it is such a treat to have daddy home in the morning :)

it's impossible to get this cutie to stay still. he was such a stud in his birthday outfit :)

i brought cupcakes to his class. he still wears his birthday hat everyday :)

Mimi and Pop came over for dinner to celebrate little man's 2 years!

and he got this totally awesome tool bench that daddy made him. it rocks. ok not to brag, but my man has some pretty mad skills :) i told him what i wanted him to make and he made exactly what i had envisioned. jakson loves it. we got lots of fun tools to go along with it. everyday he is hammering, sawing, and drilling away.

the next morning he was so excited to wake up to his tools...

We had family over on Saturday night to celebrate his birthday. It was so much fun having everyone over to our house. It was a tight squeeze but great! We had a taco bar, and the chiminea going on the porch. it was so much fun!

josh and i celebrated 3 years of marriage :) josh is an amazing husband and i love him so much. i love watching him with the boys. he is such an amazing dad and always has me in awe of how much he loves his family. i could go on and on but i won't bore you :) he is awesome. i love my best friend. thanks for choosing ME babe :) i can't wait to grow old with you.

My parents offered to keep the boys overnight for our anniversary. It was the first time that we have done that since henry was born. We had a blast. We went to our favorite restaraunt in downtime c-ville. it was pouring so after hanging out downtown for a bit we just headed back home. it was weird not having the kiddos to put to bed.

we started this tradition last year. we decided that once we get to 11 years josh can start holding up his fingers too :) this pic makes me smile bc we were having so much fun. we were laughing bc the camera fell and was at an angle so we were trying to stand at a funny angle too. i LOVE this man.

We went to Gulf Shores. we met Josh's parents out there. Thankfully the boys did awesome with only one stop. For a 7 hr car ride that is amazing!!

Gulf Shores was so fun and was in the 70's all week. People were actually in bathing suits on the beach, crazy!!

henry tate is 6 months old. CRAWLING, sitting up...he is growing up way too fast. i can't believe he is halfway to a year old already. he is such a sweetie. i love this little guy :)
{i have still been doing my updates on his month by month updates. just haven't posted them. i will get around to that one day..hah, maybe :) }

Josh and i went black Friday shopping at the Outlets. We didn't last very long though. The sales weren't that great and the lines were ridiculously long. We both got a new pair of shoes and i got a new pair of jeans, and that was it!

We left on Saturday and headed to Destin to visit our good friends, matt and lindsey! We had so much fun with them :) they just built and amazing house a few blocks from the beach. they have their own little paradise down there. it was so great to get to see them and share some laughs and talk about the crazy college days...and how old we have become :)

it was pouring sunday morning when we woke up and jakson decided it would be fun to run through the lake in their backyard...with a little encouragement from matt :)

Wow, where do i even begin!?

i can't believe that my baby is two already!! My jaksonian is growing up way too fast.

Jakson amazes me daily with new things he learns and says. He still talks a whole bunch of gibberish but he will say new words and i just want to cry. i am going to be one sad mom when he actually starts saying full sentences. i love it when he talks gibberish and then looks at me like i should know exactly what he just said :) i love my little man.

I haven't done one of these in forever so i thought this would be fun...

Jumping bean. crazy boy thinks it is hilarious to jump as high as he can and land on his bum. He has even started doing this off of the couch. yup, he is fearless.

Awesome. he pretty much rocks my world. this little man is seriously awesome!

Kind hearted. He always says hi to everyone we pass even when he has no clue who they are and i love it. he always wants to give kisses and hugs to family and friends. he really is a sweetie :)

Sassy. yep, lets be honest. he can go from being the sweetest boy to throwing a temper tantrum in seconds. all i can say is he is a true two year old. i know that no matter what i will miss all of these moments one day.

Otter?!? Well, otters love water right ;) this boy would be in water constantly if i let him. any chance he gets to get in some water he will take. even if he is fully clothed :) just say the word "bath" and he darts for his tub.

Nuts. hahah. he is craaaazy at times. i always describe him as a mess and a wild man. its true, and we love him for it!

Which is why i am SO excited about his birthday present that daddy made him. little man is going to LOVE it and i have a feeling that he is going to be helping daddy out a lot now. {i will do a post on his awesome gift after he opens it tonight}

This past weekend was our HalF MaRaTHon!!

Thursday afternoon i took the boys to their Gran and PoppE in Alabama. I did fine until i was in the car talking to my sister after i dropped them off and I boo-hoo'ed!! But i knew they were in great hands and were going to have a blast! (and of course they did!)

I picked up the hubby and we started our trip down to tybee island!

josh and I in our ride for the weekend...SOOO fun!

We had a blast :) We did some karaoke, hung out on River Street, had some fun times with family and friends, ate yummy seafood, oh and ran a half marathon!!

Of course i missed my boys like crazy but it was so fun getting in some adult time the whole weekend.

This was Josh's first half marathon and my fourth. Josh and i had a goal of beating my best time of 1:53 and we did it!! Thanks to my awesome motivator, we finished hand in hand, at 1:46:06! I wasn't super happy with my performance during the race but i was very happy with our time! I have loved training with Josh for this half and can't wait for our next one!

Sunday night josh and i decided to go down to the river to take some pictures of our little cuties.

Apparently, the gnats had plans to hang out by the river too. i got some cute pictures but you can see the swarms of gnats in most of them, o well.

dining room- before and after

A couple of months ago we finally sold our dining room set. It was a huge table with 8 chairs and a china cabinet. It was beautiful but totally not our style. It was shiny and elegant...and that's not us. We are rustic and imperfect kind of people :) Especially with our crazy little man. keeping something scratch free and perfect was impossible!

So we put it up on craigslist. A couple of people came to look at it that weren't serious buyers...ANNOYING. {if you know you aren't going to buy something from someone on craigslist don't waste their time coming to look at it. i now know why people always write serious buyers only on their ads!}

Thankfully the third guy that came to look at it was serious. He pulled up with a U-haul truck and two guys to help him load it! I did a happy dance when they pulled up at our house! They hauled it off and josh gave me the cash and told me that it was my budget for the new set.

Needless to say I couldn't find exactly what i wanted for the price that i wanted it~ so frustrating! For over a month josh and i ate dinner at jakson's mini table while jakson sat in the highchair.

i finally found the table of my dreams at a store in marietta. i went to look at it and it was perfect.

The next day josh and my dad picked her up and brought her home :)

So now i was on the hunt for chairs. I headed to goodwill bright and early monday morning and found 4 of these lovely little things...

In great condition and super easy to recover and at 13 bucks a chair, you can't beat that!

So this past weekend my hubby worked so hard on our new dining room. He was up until 2am friday, saturday and sunday night working on our dining room. gosh, i love that man! He painted, hung up our awesome oars and recovered our chairs! All of his hard work paid off because it looks like a brand new room!

-josh is going to build a bench for one side of the table and we will put the chairs on the other side. (the table is 8ft so we will have plenty of guest space)

-we have a hutch that is chillin in the garage for now waiting to be refinished! whenever we find the time to do that we will. we are just too stinking busy for that right now so it will have to wait.

But it looks like after he makes the bench i should come out perfectly on budget, wohooo!

what the burfitts are up to these days!

Life at the Burfitt house has been crazy busy but oh so fun :)

The hubby and i have been training for the savannah half marathon and it is just a few weeks away. We are SO ready for it to be here. Training can be really hard with 4 month old and a wild [almost] 2 year old. But i have loved our training team. josh pushes the double jogger and the boys just chill. Henry usually sleeps and jakson points out trees, dogs, the moon and "airpanes"! The weekend of the race we are staying in a house on Tybee with 7 other couples{my family and some friends} and no kids! It will be my longest time away from the boys so i am a little nervous but really excited. i know it will be good to get in some adult time and we are going to have a blast! Plus, i am just ready to get this half over with now! Josh and I are hoping to beat my time from my last half marathon. We shall see :)

Of course we have some house projects going on at the moment. Once our kitchen was finished we decided to start working on the dining room. We sold the old furniture and got an awesome new table and i scored some goodwill chairs that we are going to reupholster. Josh painted the dining room and we are taking out the curtains and putting in blinds. i can't wait to get it all done. It looks like a totally different room!

Henry finally went into his room this past week. Josh was out of town until thursday so i let him sleep with me until he came home. Thursday night Henry went up in his own bed. It was a long night for me but he has had a little bit of improvement every night since then and last night I didn't get up to feed him at all. He woke up a couple of times but thankfully he quickly went back to sleep on his own. So there is hope!! i am hoping that it only gets better from here.

hi, i am so sorry that i have been such a slacker with my blog lately.

i will have to catch you up on mr. henry tate's 4 month updates soon. seriously, where does the time go?! i can't believe our sweet little man is 4 months already! he is growing up way too quickly. i swear he will be crawling and talking before i know it!

i can't get enough of these smiles :]

his big brother is doing great also. talking up a storm and turning into one smart little guy :)

preschool was the perfect move for jaksonian. he gets a smile on his face as soon as we pull in the parking lot. he is making friends and learning SO much! he is our social man and preschool is perfect for him!

i have had some tough moments lately when i feel like other mom's are judging me or shocked that i put my 22 month old in preschool. you learn a lot when you become a mom and one thing i am learning is that you do what is best for you and your babies. i still love my little man like crazy and me sending him to preschool is not just a way to get rid of him for the morning. it is his time to play and learn and it gives me my time with henry and time to get things done that are tough to do with a wild 2 year old.

i love my little happy boys.

every morning when jakson wakes up he hands me his blanky and bear, and then throws his hands up for momma to grab him. always with a smile and a kiss :) i love these special moments and treasure them daily!

he usually chills on the couch with blanky, bear and milk and watches some tv while this momma cooks his breakfast.

{i will be totally honest and say that our mornings aren't always this pleasant. of course we have those mornings where he cries until breakfast is done cooking and pitches a fit because i won't give him chocolate milk. yup, this is real life.}

henry is a silly little guy. the little booger won't stay on his back for more than a minute before flipping himself right over on that big belly.

tummy time is fun for a little while but then he gets pretty bored with it.

today has been pretty productive. we started our morning with a 7 mile run. the boys were getting pretty bored by the time we finished. not sure what to expect when we are doing 8+ miles?!

jakson cracks me up in the stroller with henry. he always reaches over and holds his hand and thinks it is hilarious when henry squeezes his little pointer finger back :)

i sure do love those sweet little moments. i am sure when the brotherly fighting begins i will be missing those moments.

this afternoon josh and i made a little progress on some projects around the house while the boys napped.

now off to enjoy the rest of our weekend.

I have seen some blogs doing this recently and i love it. i get some of my favorite pictures on my phone bc it is usually always with me and way easier to bring along with me everywhere unlike my canon. so here it goes-- these are some of my most recent pictures and they all bring a smile to my face.

this boy is a shoe LOVER. seriously, if you know him, that is an understatement. i tell people this all of the time and it is true-- i don't clean up toys at night, i clean up shoes. they are EVERYWHERE. he can go into our shoe closet and comes out with matching shoes. CRACKS ME UP! if he is hanging out naked around the house-- he is at least wearing a pair of shoes :)

the first night at big canoe jakson went to bed at 11 and was up at 2 SCREAMING. he didn't go back to sleep until 12 PM. when we laid him down at 12 this is how he fell asleep, hahaha...i think he was tired.

when he started preschool he was constantly wearing his backpack. i caught him playing on the back porch wearing it proudly

enjoying some alone time with the hubs on our kayaks :)

now off to start getting ready for a very busy weekend of birthday celebrations-- running a 10k for a my BiG sister's bday, then celebrating my niece's birthday, then celebrating my amazing husband's birthday out on the river Monday (his favorite place)!! so thankful for every single one of them!!

i am WAY late on this post, oopsy!!

So, what is our adorably sweet little henry up to at three months?!

he is in 0-3m clothes & 6 month p.j's-- he is a long little guy!

he is in size 1 diapers

he is sleeping great. goes down at 9 at the earliest, 11 at the latest. he sometimes gets up to eat around 4 but sometimes waits until 6...love it!

he takes a paci to calm him down but then spits it out as soon as he falls asleep. if he can't find a paci he will suck on his thumb, just like this....

he is a good little eater and it really starting to chunk up. getting a double chin just like his brother!

he is already rolling over from back to stomach. our little overachiever baby ;) if you put him on his back you can bet that he will be on his stomach the next time you look at him.

he has rolled from his stomach to back a few times.

he is a smiley bucket and has the sweetest little giggle :)

he is going up into his own room at some point this month.

We can't wait to see what exciting things he accomplishes this month!! we are LOVING him and can't believe how quickly time is FLYYYYING by. way too fast i tell yah! :)

Last week we headed out to Big Canoe for vacation with Josh's side of the family.

We had a wonderful trip. It was relaxing for the most part. Jakson has a hard time sleeping places other than his own bed, so poor daddy was up around 6 every morning with the boy. This happens every time we are somewhere other than our home. I am hoping one day he will learn to sleep in other beds and let the rest of us enjoy our sleep!! But until then...oh well!

Josh and I are creeping up on our 3rd anniversary in November. Big Canoe is actually where our rehearsal dinner was before we got married at the Tate House. So on our way home we stopped at the Tate House for a few pictures of us with our little guys!

Hello from vacation :)

we are enjoying time with Josh's side of the family and loving having daddy all to ourselves with no work-- love it!

i am going to sneak in a quick little post on our adventure to the aquarium last weekend while henry tate naps beside me.

we started our saturday by meeting our good friends for a delicious breakfast at our favorite little food joint in chatty.

the boys can't wait for alaina's little guy to be here so they can all play together :)

it really does amaze me how much jakson is totally his daddy's mini-me.

he loved the fishies just like daddy!

and it's about nap time for this little guy :)

we had an awesome time. i am so in love with my boys and thankful for our fun times together :]

i am quickly learning how that is the perfect definition of a boy. Jakson is loud and is always getting as dirty as he possibly can. oh and always in a random pair of shoes. gotta love him :)

i can't wait to get this kid playing ball. he thinks that everything is a ball and thinks that everyone wants that ball thrown at their face :) and i'm not lying, he sure can throw and has some great aim. he is going to be our little sports star for sure.

yes, that is what jakson should have been singing this morning. his first day of preschool. seriously, i say it too much but i can't believe how quickly time passes. jakson started preschool this morning and will be going on monday and tuesday mornings. i love his preschool and am really excited for our little man to learn and have fun!

he woke up in a great mood like he usually does when daddy gets him up. it is always a treat to have daddy home in the morning :)

of course i took way too many pictures but i don't even care. i was so proud of my preschooler!

he did so great! he could have cared less that Josh and i had left the room. we didn't make a big goodbye scene because i didn't want to make him upset. we peeked in at him through the window and he was fine!

When i went to pick him up his teacher said he did great! she said one of the other kids got upset and so then jakson realized it was time to cry so he did but quickly calmed down. she also said that our little piggy went around and finished all of the other kid's snacks after they were all done :)

we stopped for a happy meal on the way home and he was soooo sleepy. he is napping now. i think preschool wore him out!

well, looks like we officially have a little preschooler. can't. even. believe it!

he is all registered and ready to go. we have open house on sunday and then he starts on monday!

i am way nervous and am pretty sure i will shed some tears on his first day. i know that he is going to have so much fun though!

and yes i am totally going to be that mom that goes in with him on the first day snapping pictures like crazy :) yup, that will be me and i have no shame.

one day last week we ate dinner at the house and decided to head to Chili's for a chocolate molten for dessert. jakson was COVERED in chocolate and got a doggy made from balloons. he was one happy boy :)

i love being with my boys all day. this was them one day while i was putting up the laundry

jakson loves shoes and that is an understatement. he is always in someone's shoes. this picture was from the other morning when we walked to a neighbor's garage sale...hahahha, only my child :)

this weekend we finally got to go to south carolina to meet our newest nephew Eli. We decided to leave jakson with his aunt Sis since he isn't the best on long car rides. He had a blast with his aunt sis, click here to see that :) That was a great decision considering the fact that our drive home was WAY longer than expected because we got stuck in traffic from a fatal accident on 1-85. We had a wonderful visit with Laura Beth, joe, joseph and Eli! Eli is a cutie and was so tiny :)

M.W.O- Mother's Weekend Out :)

When Josh and i first got married we attended a church in our town. We met some really sweet people but never really felt connected or like it was where we were supposed to be. So after we had Jakson we started going to another church, Cedarcrest.

After being at cedarcrest for a little while i decided to try and get more connected to meet some people. I joined a ladies bible study and met some amazing women. I went through three different studies with some of the same women and some new women every study. I met some amazing ladies through it and have really started to gain some awesome friendships. Some of us now do playgroups together once a week. it has been a great thing for me and for jakson.

we decided to have a ladies only weekend. we picked a weekend and got all of our husbands to keep the kiddos while we had some girl time.

we got a hotel in atlanta where some stayed one night and some stayed two. we relaxed, talked, went to the movies, ate, shopped and layed by the pool! of course i missed my boys but had a blast getting to know these women on an even deeper level.

i didn't take many pictures this weekend bc i never felt like lugging my big old camera around but here are the few that i did take...

Henry Tate is 2 months!!

Oh my goodness does time fly!! i feel like he was just being born and he is already two monthS! phew, loving every minute but i wish it would slow down. we are loving our little henry, or "Enny" as jakson would say :)

here is what littlest man is up to at 2 months...

size 1 diapers

2 month appt update--

he is getting an adorable double chin!

holding his head up better. still isn't the best at it but he is getting better.

he is sleeping SO great. goes down anywhere from 9:30-11:00 and wakes up as early as 5:30 or 8 at the latest. once he is up he eats a little and will go back to sleep again.

tummy time is a major fail. he either screams of falls asleep.

he started smiling!! :)

he also started coo-ing. love listening to that sweet little voice.

in the car-- he likes it to be in motion. as soon as you stop at a red light he starts screaming.

takes a paci in certain situations but isn't reliant on one.

CUTE as can be!! we love him so much. especially big brother jakson. the first thing jakson does when i get him in the morning is look for his brother :) makes my heart happy.

i sure do love my little henry tate :)

Jakson's Mimi and Pop have some awesome blueberry bushes in their yard and jakson got to go out and help them pick the blueberries a couple of weeks ago. he LOVED it. basically this is how it went--pick and eat, pick and eat, pick and eat. Yes, little man was full of blueberries :)

We stayed for dinner since his daddy was working on our kitchen and we had blueberry pancakes...YUMM!

yes it is true, I have been horrible at blogging lately. it is so hard to find the time to do anything these days so blogging has taken a backseat. Last night I worked on catching up on Jakson's baby book. i would look back at blog posts to fill things in that i had missed and it made me realize how much i LOVE blogging. i would look back on events or stories and think oh my gosh i completely forgot about that. so yes, i LOVE blogging and am going to keep at it so i can look back and remember...

Henry Tate is almost 8 weeks old, wow! i can't even believe it. it is just flying by so fast.

The boys newest cousin was born yesterday :) Josh's sister, Laura Beth, had baby Eli yesterday afternoon. He is adorable and we can't wait to be able to make a trip to south carolina to meet him!

life lately...

first of all, i can't get enough of this sweet face

at this very moment there is actually some silence in this house. jakson is up in his bed for a nap and i finally got henry to fall asleep in my arms for a little snooze. it seems like the boys are on opposite napping schedules this week which means that i am going to enjoy the peace and quiet.

so far life with two is crazy fun! there are moments i love and there are moments where i just have to stop and pray for some patience. i know i need to enjoy all of the moments even if i have jakson biting and hitting my leg while i am trying to calm henry down...i need to be thankful for the craziness.

jakson really is such a sweet brother. all he wants to do is love on henry, give him a paci or pat him on the head.

i know he means well, even if his pats start to become more like soft hits. but boy can that kid test my patience. the temper tantrums, the biting, the hitting...ohhh Lord, i know we will get through this, eventually :)

in other news, half marathon training has offically begun. josh was kind enough to run (sike, more like walk/jog) with me the other night. we did two miles and i felt like my body was going to fall apart. yup, i've got a LOT of work to do before this half in november. i am so excited that josh will be doing it with me this time. i love having a running parter, especially when he is my hot hubby ;)

and since we are pushing these guys during our training, the half should be a piece of cake when it gets here!

Henry is 1 month!

Henry is so adorable and we are trying to soak up every moment with him especially since I now know how fast is flies by!

Here is what Henry is up to at 1 month...

-he was in newborn diapers but i just switched him over to 1's.

- he is in newborn clothes.

-he weighs 9.4 lbs

- he had his first sick visit last week :( poor guy wasn't feeling well and had a rash covering his body. ended up that he has reflux, the rash was my hormones leaving his body, and he has thrush. we are still working on getting rid of the thrush and reflux.

- he is still a happy baby for the most part but has his fussy moments. he is pretty spoiled and just wants to be held a lot!

- he takes a paci at times just to calm him down but usually ends up spitting it out.

- eating about every 3 hours and at night will sometimes go 4-5 hours.

- he is getting better at holding his head up.

-he went on his first camping trip this past weekend and did great!

- he coo'ed and smiled for the first time this past weekend.

-he still has a wrinkly head and i LOVE it!

this weekend we took our 19 month old, 1 month old and our 2 dogs camping along with my parents, my twin and her family.

my crazy 19 month old had an absolute blast. here he is getting ready to leave and was just a little excited :)

he didn't stop playing until he literally passed out for a nap or for bed. it was SO fun and we can't wait to do it again.

jakson got to do so many fun things while camping...

he played outside ALL day

he had fun on the boat

he roasted marshmellows for some yummy s'mores :)

he played with crickets

he went fishing

he held a slimy fish (yuck)

slept under the stars

and passed out wherever his head landed :)

he swam in the lake

he even ate rocks even though i think he quickly regretted that decision.

Henry did awesome this weekend too.

he is such an easy going little guy! Henry coo'ed for the first time while we sat under the canopy waiting for a storm to pass over us :) yay! i bet he will be a smiley little guy just like his big brother!

we bought a new tent for this trip so that we could fit our blow up mattress, pack and play, and moses basket all in the same tent. thankfully the boys did great and we are going to have to start camping more often. we might wait until it gets a tad cooler though. we got lucky with the weather on friday and saturday because it really never got too hot. sunday was a different story though but of course it was still fun!

here is a funny jakson story about how smart he is getting. He is a clear example that it is caught not taught...

Jakson's cousins have paci's and about an hour after they left saturday night Jakson found one of their paci's. he picked it up, held it with his arm stretched out, ran up the camp site to the road where they had drove away and was running down the drive to go and find them to give them their paci back.

it was so cute!

and man has that boy started talking. He talks up a storm and has no clue why you can't understand what he is saying. We are slowly starting to catch onto some of his words but most of the time we just respond with, "oh really?!"

Sunday was our Father's Day celebration for all of the Father's in our family and my oldest brother josh's birthday!

he is such an amazing dad to our little guys. they are so blessed to have him for their daddy. every day when he gets home from work he gives me a kiss and then immediately gets on the floor to play with jakson and love on henry. at night he always gives Jakson his bath and puts him to bed with a sweet little prayer. when i was pregnant and didn't feel well or have any energy josh helped me out with everything whether it was cooking, cleaning or laundry.

thank you Josh for being the godly husband and father that you are to me and the boys. i thank the Lord for you everyday. You work so hard so that i can stay home with our boys. i love you more with every passing day and can't wait to see where the Lord takes our family. We love you!

Yes I've been a slacker with my blog recently. It is difficult to find the time to blog these days since I want to spend as much time as I can with my boys. AND to add to the craziness our computer decided to crash :( thankfully I had all of our pictures backed up on the external! We will hopefully be getting a new computer soon. Henry is doing great. I can't believe he is already 3 weeks old. I'm pretty sure he is going through a growth spurt right now bc he eats constantly and is sleeping a lot. And this momma is loving that :) this recovery really has been so great, thank goodness! And it helps that we have been receiving meals from our amazing friends for the past few weeks and so we haven't even had to think about cooking any food! We are SO blessed and so thankful for all of it!

Henry's first bath

Last night we were able to give Henry his first little bath. He did great and was WAY happier than his brother was during his first bath. below is a little comparison picture of Jakson and Henry. I will add that this was the only cry that henry let out the entire time and jakson cried most of his first bath.

He is such a sweet little baby. He sleeps great but he makes sure that he never misses a feeding. During the night he always wakes up at the 3 hour mark to eat but usually does a great job of falling right back asleep when he is done. I hope his sleep continues to be great.

This was our memorial day wknd in a picture. Henry chilled and was constantly loved on, jakson swam and fed the duckies TWICE. that kiddo loves his ducks :)

For the past few days Jakson has started singing a song. We have absolutely no clue what song he is singing but all we know if that it is adorable. This morning on the couch he started singing so i grabbed my phone and captured the moment. i love this boy. he is so stinking adorable.

another thing he has started doing is saying the blessing. after josh and i say it he puts his little hands together, bows his head and mumbles and then says, "yaaayyy" and claps.

Henry Tate's birth story

Last Thursday (5/19/11) I was 39w 3d pregnant. i had been having braxton hicks contractions and that was about it. i had my 39 w appt and we knew going into it that my blood pressure had been getting higher and higher each week and that we had a pretty good chance that it was going to be pretty high by this appt. So the night before the hubby loaded up the car and got us all set just incase my blood pressure wasn't good.

So I dropped Jakson off with my dad and josh and i headed in for our appt. I got my blood pressure checked and it was WAY too high- 172/100- which is no good. Midwife came in and said well i am glad you hung on this long but it is time to get that baby out. That blood pressure isn't good for either of you. Thankfully i was already progressing on my own and she said that it would be an easy and quick induction bc Henry was already starting to make his way. So we made our phone calls to tell everyone the news and headed into the hospital.

We got in our room around 4:30. The doctor had to come in and do an ultrasound bc when the nurse checked me she thought she felt his head but was also feeling somethihng else. Turns out the little booger had his hand on his head :) Since our appt a couple of hours before that i had already progressed a lot on my own, so we knew it should be a fast process. they broke my water and gave me the lowest dose of pitocin. and the contractions were coming on strong. i tried to hold out until i couldn't take the pain any longer and asked for the epidural. ahhh, relief :)

i just laid in bed and enjoyed the company and excitment in the room. it was me, josh, my mom, and my two sisters. i was SO excited that they were all going to be there to witness Henry's birth and so were they. Our nurse was AWESOME and let us break the rules and have one extra person in the room during delivery. Dad brought jakson up to see me even though it was past his bedtime :)

we didn't think that jakson wass going to get to meet henry that night but it was about 9:30 and the nurse came in to check and said that i was ready to start pushing-- i told her to "shut up" bc i was so shocked that it was really here..i was going to meet my precious Henry that i had been praying for and dreaming about for 9 months.

We started pushing and 4 pushes later-- Henry Tate came into this world- 9:54pm. 7lbs, 5oz, 20.25in and perfect :)

It was amazing. I fell in love with him with just his first cry and then i saw him and was totally IN LOVE. nothing beats that feeling...NOTHING.

i was so happy that my mom and sisters got to experience that moment with me this time. they are my best friends in this world and it was an inceredible moment. we all cried and ooed and awed over my sweet little boy. and let me tell you, he looked SO much like his brother.

Jakson got to come in and meet him and it was so precious. he looked at him and was saying, "hey" over and over again :) melts my heart. PURE JOY, that is all i felt in that moment, pure joy!

Thank the Lord, our hospital stay this go round was quick and painless. Besides my blood pressure, we were all in great health. Henry showed no signs of jaundice and slept and ate like a champ :) He is a wonderful baby just like his brother. He eats, sleeps and poops and occasionally lets out a cute little whimper.

Jakson is loving his brother. All he wants to do is kiss on him and he enjoys pointing to his nose, ears, mouth and toes.

jakson just learned to give knuckles and says "boom", haha, it is hilarious. He also said "i love you mommy" in his giberish the other night and of course i cried. he repeats everything these days. he is growing up SO fast!!

We are LOVING being a family of four. it can get a little crazy but i wouldn't change a thing!

A little update- baby Henry is still in the belly. I have my dr appt tomorrow afternoon so we will see what they say!

He went in for his 18 month appt today. He is looking great all around :) He is really starting to repeat words that we say now. He still thinks Josh and I are both dada but we are working on that. His newest words are juice "ju", duck "duh", belly, quack, and "woof, woof" and this morning he said, doctor "docdah" I am currently working on "Henry" and "baby brother" ;)

How far along? 9 months...37 weeks to be exact :)

Total weight gain/loss? gained 23 lbs

Sleep? horrible...i can't get comfy and ache all over.

Best moment last month? we went to the dr yesterday for my 37 week check up and we got to see his sweet little face since they wanted to make sure he was head down and ready for his entrance...thankfully he is!

Movement? lots of it! of course now it has turned into more rolling movements and nudges. i think he is pretty much out of room and can't full on kick me so much anymore. he likes to stick his little butt up and stretch those legs out just like jakson used to do.

Food cravings? i love food :) but i think my stomach doesn't have any more room and i can't eat as much as i used to able to eat.

Gender? it's a BOY, Henry Tate Burfitt!

Labor signs? lots of braxton hicks contractions. i am hoping that means my body is getting ready for the real deal!

Belly button in/out? out

What I miss: sleeping on my belly, running, not feeling like a whale ;)

What I am looking forward to: meeting henry this month and hopefully going into labor any day now!!

Milestones: Henry is supposedly the size of a watermelon. hah, i am thinking one of the little seedless ones ;)

we went to the hospital 4am sunday morning. henry had changed positions on friday and when he did that something happened to my back. i was in SO much pain that i hadn't slept a wink friday night or saturday night and tylonol did nothing. So after crying all through the night i finally decided to call the dr and she said to come on in. thankfully everything looked good but i was having lots of contractions so they figured the back pain was getting worse from those. they gave me a nice shot before i left that had me knocked out before we even made it home and i slept ALL day. and i seriously mean ALL day :) but the pain is much more maneagable now and i am making sure to take it easy and sucking down the water to ease the contractions.

i am so ready for my sweet boy to come this month!

Oh my little Jakson, could you please stop growing up so fast?!

My boy is ALL boy. all he wants to do is be outside, get dirty and play in some water. a couple of weeks ago Josh and Robby built a railing to go around our porch. i love it. i can now put all of jakson's outdoor toys on the porch and not have to worry about him getting into something in the backyard. He now has his sprinkler, pool, cars and balls all on the backporch and i can lock him in. he is happy and i am happy :)

jakson is getting smarter by the day...

-he is getting to know who people are and can point to them.

-he can point to his nose, belly button and ears..yay!

-the other day my mom had him trying to moo like a cow. hahah, it was too funny.

-the other morning i was toasting bread in the toaster and when it popped up Jakson pointed at it and said, "uh oh!" it was so cute!

-he is now obsessed with books. I will trade out the books he has downstairs for books on his book shelf bc we end up reading the same book over and over and over...here is a cute picture i took of my boys last night while reading Jakson's current favorite, Mr. Brown can Moo! Can you?

Makes me one proud momma :)

Jakson had an awesome, non-stop Easter weekend! I won't bore you with words but I will show you some of my favorite pictures from the weekend :)

Saturday morning we woke up and headed to the Cedarcrest egg hunt. Jakson was too funny. He would pick up an egg, put it in his basket, take it back out and throw it like a ball. That didn't come as a shock to us at all.

Easter morning. wearing a jon-jon that i made :) i don't ever dress him like this but i had to on Easter. he is so handsome just like his daddy!

After a wonderful church service we headed to my parents house with the whole gernatt gang. yup, that is a lot of gernatt's. We had SOO much fun. We ate way too much, did an egg hunt and got to spend quality time with family.

I am one blessed momma. i love all three of my boys!

Poor Jaks...sorry kid, you are stuck with us :)

Jakson thought he would rather play with sticks than pick up eggs! He did get some eggs and he got a prize egg for his piggy bank :)

Yesterday we got to go to the zoo with mimi and jakson's cousins. the kids had a blast and so did all of the momma's :) i love that jakson is so close with his cousins. my sister in law tonya is due any day now and we tried to do enough walking to make her go into labor but no luck :( here is a little picture overload from the zoo.

Henry update ~
i went in today for my 35 weeks appt.

Blood pressure-- high :( boooo. this is exactly when it started going up during my pregnancy with jakson. she said i will probably have to start coming in twice a week and i'm not on bed rest but was told to tell the hubby that he has to help me out as much as he can with the little guy and around the house.

Henry's positioning-- she thought he was transverse again but after getting his heart rate and feeling around at where she thinks his body is, she thinks that he is positioned all funky just like jakson was positioned. head down, with his feet sticking straight out. next week they will most likely do an ultrasound to make sure of this but i hope she is right!

my sleep has been horrible recently. i feel like i have pregnancy insomnia. i will be SO tired but just can't sleep. she suggested i take tylonol PM before heading to bed so we will see how that works out. i am hoping for some sleep since VERY soon i wiill be VERY sleep deprived.

so at this point i am pretty much counting down the days until Henry arrives.(46 days). i can't wait to finally meet him, kiss him and hold his precious little body in my arms.

but i can tell you that i am getting a little sad that jakson will no longer be our one and only. don't get me wrong, i know he is going to love having a little brother to play with and beat up on but it is a known fact that there will be two little men in my life taking all of my attention.

josh and i are really enjoying this sweet time with our first born. last night we took a ride in the jeep around town and i know jakson just loved the one on one time with us. i try and take him to a park a few times a week where just him and i can bond and have fun. i am pretty sure he has no clue what is coming for him. but i know with all of my heart that he is going to love his little bro, Henry Tate:)

alright, that is all for now. i gotta get ready for some pretty awesome guests coming tonight to help me with Henry's room. i can. not. WAIT to get that done and enjoy this sweet time with some amazing friends. have a wonderful weekend. i will post on the room next week!

We had my 32 weeks appt yesterday and everything is looking good. My bp wasn't the best but nothing that worried my doctor. I went to Monkey Joe's with Jakson yesterday and think that i over did it :/ doctor told me take extra strength tylonol and rest as much as possible. hopefully i will be feeling better soon!

This weekend my sweet sisters, sis-in-law and momma threw Tonya and I a diaper shower. They did such a great job. The decor was adorable and the food was so delicious :)

I am so, SO blessed with an amazing family and wonderful friends. I got a some really cute blankets, burp cloths and shirts for Henry AND 1500 diapers, wohoooo!!

That is going to help us out SO much! I can't wait to see how long all of those diapers last us. Thanks again to my family and friends who were able to make it to the shower. I am one blessed girl :)

After the shower I hung out with a friend who wasn't able to make it to the shower. We went to the avenue and grabbed some Yogli Mogli afterwards :) While at the avenue we went into the gap and searched the sale racks. I learned that i am going to have a problem matching my boys! It was so fun getting matching shirts and pants...i have to make up for not having a girl yet, haha-- sorry boys!

This past weekend was perfect :)

here is what it involved in a nut shell --

date night(La Parilla-- The Licoln Lawyer, which was awesome-- and yogurt)thanks to my wonderful twin and her family for babysitting. riding around town in the jeep with the doors off. eating hamburgers and fries at a neat little joint downtown. painting some furniture for baby Henry's room. a nice little visit from the in-laws. eating a yummy dinner outside on the patio. the most perfect weather you could ever ask for. the playground. a wonderful time with my beautiful little family. all while feeling my sweet little boy kicking around like crazy :)
i LOVE IT ALL!

Josh bought Jakson a swing at a consignment sale and he was pretty excited about it. Last night he put it all together and found a nice spot in the backyard for it to go. Jakson was one happy kid :)

jakson at 16 months

This time in his life is so fun. He is learning so much and completely turning into a little boy. He is a little fire cracker and that is a fact. He is wild and full of energy but still my sweet little man :)

Here is what you are up to at 16 months...

your vocab-- mama, dada, "dah"- dog, "bah"- ball, hey, "bah, bah"-bye bye, "yea"-- a current favorite of yours, "pah"- pop, mimi, baby or bobby, and you have said sis once :)
you always sound like you say other words too. we are pretty much in shock after you say some things. you are really trying to talk and it is so fun to listen to you!

you LOVE playing with balls. you throw them, kick them, roll them. sports are in your near future!

dancing-at 15 months you were doing the shoulder shrug. now you basically run in place and get all excited. you love fun and fast music.

teeth- still 4 on top, two on bottom. BUT you are currently teething. you chew on everything you can get in your mouth. the two next to your middle bottom ones are finally coming in..yay!

sleep- you take one afternoon nap now. anywhere from 2-3 hours. going to bed about 8:30 or 9. not sleeping too great since you are teething. there's a lot of 3 am bonding time with you momma :) but henry is keeping her up at night so it all works out pretty well!
food- your appetite is so random. one day you will eat a ton and the next day you will spit everything out.

drink- pop introduced you to chocolate milk at 15 months and now it is just a special bond you two share :) you love it and he loves to give it to you! you drink about 3 sippys of milk and a couple of 1/2 & 1/2 juice and water sippys.

you think it is fun to gag yourself...this is weird to me!

you love to play with belly buttons. especially mommy's crazy looking one right now.

you are obsessed with your pop. it doesn't matter who is holding you. as soon as you see him you run over and lift your hands up to him.

you started giving the sweetest kisses at 15 months and now you blow kisses too :)

you love being outside. if it is a pretty day you want to be out in the yard getting dirty and playing with the dogs. we are searching for outdoor toys for you!

you love cars. daddy let you "help" him drive his truck at 15 months and now you are obsessed with all cars...including your new beloved police cozy coupe :)

you love putting mommy or daddys shoes on and walking around. you try to put your own shoes on but haven't quite gotten the hang of it.

you love bath time. especially splashing and making a huge mess!

temper tantrums...you are great at these when you don't get your way!

you are have started crying when we drop you off at nursery on sunday mornings but quickly get over it once you realize that all of your friends are in there!

when mommy or daddy tells you no, you like to say "no" right now back and come over and try to hit us. oh boy...what are we going to do with you?!?

you are ALL boy. no doubt about that! we love you booger and love watching you grow!!

Henry update--

I went in today for my 30 week appt. Looks like the booger is transverse just like jakson was until about 35 weeks. i am hoping he will flip for me. i know he still has some time though!

Bp was normal, thank goodness! Little guy sounded great :)

I pulled a back muscle yesterday :( that is no fun when you are constantly keeping up with a 16 month old. thankfully my wonderful parents were able to help me out last night. the heating pad helps it a ton. the dr said trying to rest and putting heat on it should help it get better faster.

We go back in two weeks!

i caught my boys snoozing last night and i just had to snap a picture :) one of josh's favorite things is putting jakson to bed. it is just him and his boy and he loves it and i love that he loves it. he is an awesome daddy :)

we worked around the house this past weekend. i am SO ready to get Henry's room done. We have just been so busy recently but i am hoping by next month it will be close to getting done. i am going to start stressing soon if we don't! I will keep you updated. my oh so talented friend, alaina, is going to be helping us. I can't wait because she has some awesome ideas. it is gong to be so perfect :)

i need help-- on the search for a double stroller!

Hello everyone! I am not even sure how many people read my blog but i really need some help so any advice you can give me would be appreciated! Josh and I are on the hunt for a new stroller to deal with a 18 mo old and a baby and then as they grow!

I think i have decided on getting a sit and stand stroller.

BUT i am not sure if I should get one like this...

it just has a bench that jakson could sit on or he could use the thing to stand on. the one thing that worries me about this is when he is tired the bench will not be comfortable.

OR

do i go for this...

this stroller can be two seats or you can change out the seat and make it a bench that he could sit on or stand like the one above. the reviews say this one is heavier but i really think i would like having the option of being able to let him relax or not!

it also has to be one that will work with my chicco keyfit carseat.

I want to get one that we will use bc i don't want to buy one and then hate it and never use it. Any advice you can offer me would be SO appreciated!

we stayed at my parents house this past weekend for some fun girls time while most of the boys went camping. i was getting ready for bed and found frank already hogging a bed...i thought it was cute. looks like he was trying to blend in.

missing you Granddaddy...

On Monday morning my sweet Granddaddy went to be with Jesus. He was surrounded by people who love him. It was a bittersweet moment that I will never forget. I am already missing him like crazy. This week has been filled with tears, hugs and kisses, laughter, joy, sadness...pretty much a wide range of emotions. The Lord has shown me just how blessed I really am with my family. We have all been there for each other and will continue to get through this with the help of each other and the peace and comfort that only Jesus can give.

We miss his sweet and contagious smile, his little chuckle, his hugs and kisses, funny stories, witty sense of humor, kindness, his love he showed each and every one of his grandkids and great grandkids... and the list could go on and on-- If you attended his funeral then you would know that it sure could!

Miss you and love you granddaddy and i can't wait to see you again someday!!

I'm loving all that the Lord is teaching me in my current bible study- Anointed, Transformed, Redeemed.

I'm loving that my house is CLEAN and laundry is done :) thank you Lord for productive mornings...and a cup of coffee :)

I'm loving my sewing machine and my awesome sewing teacher. Check out Henry's first little romper that i made him last night...

I'm loving feeling my little Henry kicking and flipping around in my belly. he is currently the size of an eggplant and i am sure as cute as can be ;)

I'm loving our playgroup and so excited to spend some time with everyone tomorrow at the park in this BEAUTIFUL weather!

This morning after breakfast the little man and i got out to run some errands. we headed to the old Hob Lob to look for a simple wreath that i could snaz up a bit with some inspiration from a few wreaths i have seen recently. i have a wreath hanger on my front door with no wreath hanging on it...and i have all of these fabric and ribbon flowers that i had made but no where to put them. i always look for a wreath like this but never find it so today i searched the WHOLE store. and what do you know?! i found them...hiding in the corner i never look at :) imagine that!

after a quick trip to walmart we headed home so Jaks could nap and so i could get a little crafty.

i also made these sweater flowers that i had been wanting to make with Josh's sweaters that he was throwing out.

i think they turned out SUPER cute!

Here is my finished product. i am happy with it and now i finally have a fun front door :)

Unfortunately we are sick around these parts :( jakson is wheezing, which is causing him to cough, which is causing him to throw up...lovely. So he is on an antibiotic and breathing treatments. I have a yucky cold/sinus/water eyes issue.
BUT despite the sickness we had a VERY productive day. josh ~~and i~~ cleaned out and ORGANIZED our entire garage. we loaded the attic up with Christmas decor and other nicknacks we won't be needing for a while, and organized all of our bins of boy clothes and all of the other junk we have! it looks SO good and now we can park my car AnD his jeep in the garage!

then josh headed down to Atlanta for monster jam and left his sicklings behind.

after eating, playing and bath time jakson passed out hard. i got to finish laundry. yes that is right, laundry baskets are EMPTY and all laundry is put away. Wow does that feel good bc it never happens!

now i will catch you up on our week while my nails dry and i sit in bed :)

what a week it has been. josh was out of town for most of it, so jaks and i went to stay with my parents since we had something to do down their way everyday. it was a wonderful but busy week!

Sunday was the SUPER BOWL! we had a fun party at my parents house with LOTS and LOTS of food and family :)

Wednesday we went to the Childrens Museum of Atlanta with a couple of Jakson's friends that we hadn't seen in a long time. we had an awesome time...i will blog on that later in the week.

Thursday was a play date and then daddy came home!

Food cravings? toasted peanut butter and banana sandwiches, milk (going through a gallon of 2% milk every week. Yikes! I did the same at the end of my pregnancy with jakson), oh and bring on the burgers, fries, sweet tea, pop tarts, and anything spicy. pretty much, i just love all food and the heartburn hates it :)

Gender? it's a BOY, Henry Tate, named after my daddy!

Jakson's first hair-cut!!

The mullet/rat tail is officially gone :)

My mom and I took Jakson up to Pigtails and Crewcuts and got his little hair chopped off yesterday. The lady did an awesome job of distracting Jakson and keeping him happy. Plus, he loved sitting in the little helicopter while getting his hair cut.

i was so proud of my big boy. and WOW, does he look big now!!

Little Jakson man at 14 months!

I did a monthly update for jakson up to 1 year but haven't done one since then! So here are some things that our crazy little booger is up to at 14 months...

He weighs around 23 lbs.

He is always running around like a crazy man looking for ~~something to get in to~~ a new adventure :)

Yup, he loves getting into the diaper bag and my wallet

His vocabulary consists of hey, "bah bah"~bye-bye, ma ma, da da, mimi, "pah"~pop, "bay bay"~baby, "dah"~dog(his favorite), "hah"~hot, no. --i might be missing some but i think i got it all.

He has 6 teeth.

He has started touching my belly and saying "bay bay". of course he really has no clue what he is doing but still...it is so cute and melts my heart everytime :)

He is such a creeper, haha. he stares at everyone he sees. some people love it but some people get awkward...it is very funny.

He loves to put on daddy's hats and run around the house.

He loves to pull all of the toilet paper off of the roll and go through every trashcan that he can get his little hands on.

He LOVES the dogs. he ~~hits~~ pets them and says "dah"(dog) all of the time.

He LOVES phones. if he sees a phone, he just has to have it! He will pitch a fit until he gets his way. josh got me an otter box for my iphone so it is more protected now!

He still likes the car and his carseat, thank goodness. we drive way too much so we would both be miserable if he didn't like it!

He is a biter...unfortuately. We are trying to break him of this but it is just him right now. operation vinegar has begun, we will see if it works since popping his mouth doesn't seem to do a thing :/

He likes to test us. when we say "no", he has to try it just one more time. oh how i love that little stinker. then he make this face when he knows you are serious...

He loves his play group. We have started a play group with some women from my bible study and their kids. it is so nice to chat with other mommies who share similar interests and let jakson run and around and get some energy out! We both get a lot out of that time.

He likes to ~~eat crayons~~ color.

He loves to be held. gives me quite the arm workout during the day.

He loves the vacuum cleaner. He chases it and loves it when i chase him with it!

His eating is changing a little bit. He has started to hate broccoli and mac and cheese?! crazy kid! He also isn't quite the eater he used to be. Sometimes he will eat a lot and sometimes he just wants a couple of bites.

Eating out is almost impossible these days. All he wants to do is eat a few bites and then get down to run around. makes for very short restaurant visits.

He will be getting his first haircut this week. the rat tail has got to go :)

I bet you didn't know that January 23rd is National Pie Day :)
My sister sure did and her and her hubs had a Pie Day Party! Hahah...yes, we will take any reason to have a party...especially a party with pie :)

Party rules were to bring a pie and everyone would sample each pie and vote for their favorite.

they were all DELICIOUS. (especially the key lime pie, made by my hubby..love you babe)

The peanut butter pie was the winner of the night and yes it was yummy!

today jaks got a little sleepy while browsing through our favorite store, Target :)
i was looking through the sale racks and noticed that jakson was passing out. i mean, face hitting the front of the cart. poor guy couldn't keep his eyes open! I took him out and held him so he could sleep and walked to the checkout. poor guy, he never does that.

sleepy man as soon as he got in the carseat :)

i am SO enjoying this one on one time with my little guy since that will soon change when we add Henry to the mix.

did i mention that this prego is going to be walk/jogging/waddling a 5K tomorrow morning. ahhhh, this should be entertaining! i am hoping to finish in 45 minutes. hahah, that is only 20 minutes more than my normal pace.

ever since i have gotten my sewing machine i love just playing around and reading TONS of tutorials.

So today while jakson napped, i decided to try out a felt flower clip since i had all of the materials on hand. i think it turned out super cute. it was SO cheap and SO easy and SO fun :)

so cute, right?! i am going to have fun with these suckers :)

after a trip to hobby lobby and lots of playing around, i made this bad boy. not sure if i will ever wear it...i really can't figure out if it is cute or not, hah.

i also made a hairclip out of the same flowers for my sister and her daughter but didn't take a picture.

this weekend was an awesome weekend :)
fRiDaY night was a DoUbLe dAtE night. a date night of any kind was SO needed. josh and i went to dinner with my twin and her hubs while our older sister and hubs babysat all of the kiddos. THANK YOU SISTER!!
i did end up getting really sick that night but i am SO thankful for a hubby that loves and takes care of me. he was so sweet to me and showed me his sweet servants heart when he took care of me into the wee hours of the morning. THANKS BABE! can i also just say that these past couple of weeks josh has really shown me that he is my biggest fan in ALL that i do. i love him!!
SaTuRdAy we were LAZY and enjoyed eachothers company. that evening we went to dinner with some wonderful friends who have an adorable little girl, kaydee. Kaydee will be exactly nine months apart from both of our boys. i joke around that now she has two Burfitt boys to choose from :) haha. anyways, we enjoyed the wonderful company and laughter that night. we had a delicious dinner at my new favorite pizza spot! i told josh we will be returning there..A LOT ;) hey, a preggo has to eat...

we have another DIY project in the making right now. i can't wait for it to be done and do a post on it. i have such a handy hubby and i am so thankful that he LOVES his awesome new saw and wants to make me whatever i want. YAY!!

Some other fun news..the couple who set josh and i up adopted a sweet little boy this past week. they have a very sweet story so if you would like to read it, check it out! We are so happy for them and will be praying for them as they begin this fun journey of parenthood. PTL!

DAY 3:
So, i know that i am stay at home mom and there are days when we will stay in the house for a couple of days but i tell you what-- i am about to go cRaZy! i think it is the fact that i know that i can't get in my car and drive somewhere. our roads are pretty rough out here :/ AND it isn't supposed to get above freezing today so there might not be much improvement. (ahhhhh!!)

We are hoping to get out for a little bit today before it gets bad again tonight. I think it is getting down to 12 tonight :/ YIKES!

Yesterday we were the definition of LAZY (LA-ZY: slow-moving; sluggish). jakson woke up early and then went down for a nap 2 hours later and so did josh and i. we all slept until noon. hah, that never happens but it did feel good. that afternoon josh and i decided to get some fresh air so we went on a walk up to our QT and back. That was nice and jakson loved the stroll.

Then last night josh ran up to our walmart before the roads got bad again bc we ran out of wipes.
We watched movies after jaks went to bed and continued our lazy streak.

Now here we are...day 3 of this ice/snow lock-down. this momma is about to go crazy but i am trying to just enjoy the special time with all my boys. Plus...i've been getting pretty nauseous(ughh), so it is nice to the have the hubs here to help me out some. He rocks :]

And lastly I am going to end with a verse that I was reflecting on last week.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;

i love this verse bc it is something that i struggle with all of the time. i feel like i am always trying to go, go, go. and even when i am sitting still, it is very rarely that i am just sitting still and meditating on his Word. i find myself hurrying through a quiet time bc i know that there is something else i need to get done before Jaks wakes up from his nap. So this is one thing that i am really working on. just wanted to share and challenge you to do the same :)

i guess i will sneak a little blog post in while the little man naps and hubs drives around in his jeep.

snow in the south doesn't happen too often so we are taking advantage of this weather. Jakson didn't really know what to do in the snow at first. He thought he was stuck when we first put him down.

i am SO glad that the weekend is finally here. i am ready for a weekend with both of my boys(and the teeny one in the belly)

Poor jaks got a stomach bug yesterday. the throwing up started about 1 and ended at about 8 last night :( poor little boog. he went to the dr this morning and was totally over it.
(sweet boy waiting on the doctor)

of course, the dr told me AgAiN, "you are one blessed mom. he is always so happy and has such a good temperment no matter how sick he is." then as he was walking out the door he mentions..."you probably won't get this lucky with the next one"...Oh i hope he is wrong. come on Henry...don't let me down ;)

So the only real plan we have this weekend is to go and get our SPICY CHICKEN BISCUITS at the chick. Those of you that know me, know that henry is probaby going to come out asking for Chick-fil-a. i eat there AT LEAST once or twice a week :/. so i am pretty pumped about our reservations tomorrow...am i pregnant or what?!?!

ONE MORE THING:

i have to brag on my hubby for a second. my great friend Alaina sent me some ideas for working on my living room. she sent me an awesome blog on how to make this Painter’s Ladder Shelf and Josh did it! I LOVE it. he is so handy and loves wood working. i told him he needs to sell these. all i did was paint it :) i think it looks awesome in our living room and is a great start for giving it a new feel. THANKS BABE!!

before we had jakson one of my biggest fears was when i had to start actually disciplining him. i knew it wouldn't be fun and it was just such an unknown to me. i know there have been times when i would watch other moms and think...geez, do something...or shut that kid up. and i knew it would give me such a new perspective when i was actually the mom in the situation. and oh boy, does it.

my happy little boy is seriously a sweety pie. but boy can he throw a temper tantrum when he doesn't get his way, bite his momma just because, or test you after you have told him "no" FIVE times already as he does it just one more time.

ohhh sweet jakson man...I LOVE HIM! he is my bundle of energy :)

To show his sweet side though, he is constantly being pointed out by strangers as being such a happy boy. yup, that smile barely ever leaves his face, and i LOVE it!

funny story to embarass him one day--

last night i was up in his room getting him ready for bed. i had taken his diaper off and was grabbing the new one to put on him when he decided to roll himself over and squat and pee like a little puppy. bahaha, i couldn't help but laugh. he was quite proud of himself. crazy boy :) don't worry, that one is already in the baby book!
