2010 is going to be a great year

I can't believe that tomorrow it will be 2010! That is so crazy to me.

So my sister inspired me to write out all of my New Years resolutions. Maybe with them written out and other people knowing what they are I will be encouraged to hold true to them...

1. To run a half marathon. This will be my third one and will also serve as a way to get this body back in shape after growing and birthing a baby :) I am back down to pre-pregnancy weight...but I need some serious toning. I am going to run it with my sister, and I am going to start my training in January. I can't wait to start running again. It has always been my stress relief and I have missed it while I was pregnant with Jakson. The 1/2 is in April, so I gotta get to it!

2. To choose happiness everyday. Everyday that the Lord gives us is a blessing from him. Why should I waste it by having a bad attitude?! We are only on this Earth for a certain amount of time and I need to make the most of it. I will never forget what my dad used to tell me and my sisters every morning, "happiness is a choice, choose happiness." It is so true. Back then I just used to roll my eyes when he would say that. But now I want to live it!

3. To save...bottom line.

4. To complete another bible study. In 2009 I completed a Beth Moore study about the Tabernacle and learned so much about myself and about the Lord. I want to get involved in a bible study in 2010 so that the Lord will continue to mold me and shape me through his Word.

5. Make more friends in my community. Towards the end of the year Josh and I did a better job of getting involoved. We joined a sunday school class and attended Tabernacle regularly. I met some amazing women through my bible study. I want to get more involved this year and make it feel like Cartersville is really our home.

These are my goals for 2010. They are in no order. They are just goals that I want to accomplish! Bring on 2010... (:

Looking back at the miracle that 2009 brought to our family...

Looking back...

Looking back isn't it crazy how things change so quickly from year to year.

Two Christmas's ago my family went to a cabin in the mountains. This is where I say that Josh and I really started our relationship. We talked on the phone everyday and texted eachother constantly. I would have told you that I was already in love with him just through talking. But I didn't want people to think I was crazy or scare him away :) We always had things to talk about and laughed and just got along like we had been best friends for YEARS! He was in Texas on vacation and both of our families joke about how we were always on the phone with this mysterious person. After that the rest is history since we started dating and immediatly fell in love with one another and seven months later, we were engaged :)

At the cabin with my family :)

Last Christmas we had been married for a month and were just having fun being newlyweds! We spent it with his family and were not thinking about having a baby by the next Christmas. I got a dog that Christmas and that was going to hold me over until we could start trying for kids, haha. We were wanting to start trying the next Christmas though.

Josh and I last Christmas as newlyweds!

And now look at us. This Christmas we had us little Jakson. What a blessing. There isn't a second that goes by that I don't wonder how I deserve all that the Lord has given to me. I am so blessed and I thank the Lord everyday for everything that he is doing in my life. I can't wait to see what this next year holds for our family.

Happy Birthday to me :)

So yesterday I turned the big 2-4. Ok, not really a big deal for birthdays but still, I am getting older. It was a very relaxed and low key birthday but so wonderful!

Jakson didn't fall asleep until 1:40 am and then woke up about 4:30 to eat again. So that morning and so my wonderful hubby got up with him about 7 am and fed him and let me sleep until about 10:30...it was so wonderful!! Then I got up and he made me breakfast. We stayed in our p.j's all day :) I got to open my present which was a real pair of cowboy boots...i LOVE them!! Later that night we dropped off the little guy at Mimi and Pops, and Josh took me out to dinner. We went to Nava, which was delicious! We were going to go ice-skating after but it was about 29 degrees out so we changed our mind. Instead we went and grabbed a starbucks and were going to go and see the lights of Life, but the line was sooo long. So we just decided to go and see our boy, because of course we were already missing him!

It was a wonderful birthday.

Thanks Josh and Jakson for making it so special.

Jakson is 1 month :)

I can't believe that you are 1 month old today. You are so stinkin adorable and are such a blessing to me and your daddy. We just think you are amazing and can't stop staring at you every second of everyday. You make us so happy and we can't imagine life without you here.

Here are some things that you have accomplished or are still working on at 1 month...

- You went to the Doctor yesterday to make sure you are gaining weight and you weighed 6 pounds, 12 ounces! When you went last Monday you were right at 6 pounds, so that is awesome!

- You are RIGHT in between preemie and newborn clothes right now. Most preemie clothes are too short because you are a long baby..but the newborn clothes are still too big and too long. Mommy has to roll your newborn pants about 3 times to fit you, haha.

- You still fit in preemie diapers but are now mostly wearing newborn diapers.

- You eat about every 2 or 3 hours during the day and USUALLY take a 4-5 hour break in the middle of the night. Sometimes you do this in the middle of the day instead. Your mommy loves when you do this at night though :)

- You are still sleeping in Mommy and Daddy's room. You have a bassinet that you usually enjoy but occasionally your mommy lets you cuddle with mom and dad!

- You take a bath everyday or every other day but you still aren't really enjoying them.

- You makes the CUTEST faces while you sleep and your mom just loves watching them all.

- You purse your little lips while you are pooping..it's soooo cute!!

- You had your first Santa visit, but slept the whole time.

- You are still spitting up a lot and your mom and dad pray that it gets better very soon.

- You have met all of your cousins and mom and dad can't wait for you to be able to play with them.

- Everyone that has met you just talks about how cute and tiny you are...and it is so true! You are adorable and loved by so many!!

I love you my sweet baby boy!

The book says it the best... "I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, As long as I'm living my baby you'll be"

Jakson at three weeks~

He is not the biggest fan of bath time!

I can't believe that my little baby is already three weeks old. I am trying to savor every moment with him and just enjoy every second I get to be with him.

Life has been pretty great since we got out of the hospital. When we got out he weighed 5 pounds and 2 ounces. At his one week he was up to 5 pounds and 4 ounces. Then at his two week he was 5 pounds and 6 ounces, which is soo close to his birth weight, BUT we had to see a different doctor because Josh had something to do at work so we had rescheduled. Lesson #1, don't switch doctors. She freaked out and told me that Jakson isn't gaining weight like he should and I should start doing every other feed with 2 ounces of formula and just pump after that feed. And I should be feeding like this every TWO hours. Holy cow, yeah right. He could barely get two ounces down and was stuffed FULL and could not eat every two hours. I was so stressed. She had also added that if he doesn't start gaining a ton of weight that it will affect his brain development. Thanks for scaring the crap out of a first time mom lady! So the next day I made an appointment with our doctor that we had loved. Like I had thought, he agreed with me. Jakson is just a little guy and will grow at his own pace..it's not like Josh and I are huge people. Plus, he was getting enough milk by breastfeeding- that was obvious from his diapers. So needless to say he put me back on my regular schedule. That made me a happy momma. We went back Wednesday because he had to get a blood test re-done :( and he was up to 5 pounds and 15 ounces...woohoooo! He is growing :]

We go back on Thursday of next week to get weighed again...

Now feedings are going great, he eats like a champ. I am so happy because one of my biggest fears about being a mom was not being able to breastfeed but the Lord showed me that it was a stupid fear.

He is sleeping pretty great at night. We usually get him down about 12 or so...and sometimes don't hear from him until about 4 or 5 in the morning. Even though I am pretty bad about putting him in the bed with me. Ooops. I just love snuggling with him and seeing his little face right next to me! Oh well, he is mine and I can do what I want. Haha...

We have a pretty busy weekend. We get to see Santa tomorrow. Actually, we get to have cocoa with Santa and all of his cousins! I will enjoy this trip a little more than him right now, but one day he will love it. I have had some issues finding a newborn christmas outfit. Looks like he won't be wearing the cutest outfit in the world but what I got will work I guess!
Then on Saturday we get to make gingerbread houses with the pair girls and my sisters and sister-in-law, tonya. Josh will be off hunting with my brother this weekend so my sister-in-law and her kids are keeping me and Jakson company. Then on Sunday some of my girl friends are celebrating Christmas so I am hoping that Jakson and I will get to go to that so that they can all see him. I don't like getting him in huge crowds right now bc I am afraid of people getting their swine flu germs all over my precious baby. So this is at one of the girls houses..with just a few girls. So that's ok :)

Thats all of my updates for now.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Jakson Earnest Burfitt

Josh and I made our way to the doctor on November 16th to get my blood pressure checked. It was still high and so the doctor came into the room and said, "alright, let's do it. We will induce you today and you will probably have a baby today or tomorrow." Josh and I both just sat there and let it sink in. So many emotions we were both feeling. We went and got our clothes and hospital things and made all of our phone calls to tell everyone the news. We got to the hospital and started my first round of cervadil at 3. I had it in for the full 12 hours and it wasn't really doing much. I started the next round at 6:45 the next morning. I guess it was about 10 that I started having contractions. The nurse came in about 11 and checked me and I was already 3 centimeters. Right then the contractions started coming one on top of the other and they let me get the epidural. Thank the Lord for those!! After that it didn't take long for me to get to 10. We started pushing at 2:30 and had little Jakson at 3:42! How exciting that moment was!! He was a tiny little guy weighing 5lbs 7oz and measuring 19 inches and ADORABLE!!

Our hospital stay was a little longer than expected. He ended up having jaundice and we had to stay from Tuesday until Sunday. I was a little emotional at times and ready to get out of there but we made it! I wanted to let out a "YIPPEEEE" when they told us we could go home Sunday morning. It was probably the best news ever, and the fact that it was our one year anniversary made it even more special!

Enjoying some J&E time...

Our river date

ready for my Jakson!

Franky boy enjoying the River

The beautiful sky through the trees while we did some grilling!

Josh and the pups enjoying the fire!!

So yesterday officially marks my 37 weeks of pregnancy. Which means Jakson is FULL TERM!! Looking back to when I was 6 weeks pregnant I wouldn't have even imagined getting to this point because it seemed so far away, and now it is here. I am just so excited to finally get to see my little boy and hold him and kiss him...oh I can't wait!! I know I need to enjoy these few weeks though. Everyone will tell you to sleep all you can, enjoy the time with just you and your husband- so we are doing it! I sleep in whenever I can, we sleep in on Saturdays and if I get tired, I take a nap! And Josh and I are doing things that we can only imagine will be a little more difficult to do once Jakson is here with us! BUT it is so hard to not daydream every minute about my little guy and to be so anxious for his arrival. So it seems like it will take forever since I am counting down the minutes until he gets here :) I just can't help it!!

This weekend we had our friends Mike and Jessica over for dinner and had so much fun with them! We played a game that Josh actually likes, Apples to Apples! I am so excited because he doesn't really like any games besides scrabble. Then on Saturday we were lazy around the house and then went to the river to let the dogs play and eat some lunch. Then we went to Josh's parents house for dinner for his Dad's Birthday. We had a yummy dinner and dessert and played some Wii~ It was a fun night! Then on Sunday we went to my grandma's house to celebrate the November birthdays. And Josh and I had our own mini cookout last night so we could enjoy the amazing weather!

Nesting, Nesting...and some more nesting :)

So this weekend I will be 9 months pregnant!! I can't believe it is finally here. We went in yesterday for our appointment and the doctor was a little confused by my oddly shaped belly, haha. So he wanted to do an ultrasound bc this is the time that Jakson should be flipped if he is going to flip...even though he really could up until the due date, it just isn't most likely. I feel like I have been asking everyone I know to pray for Jakson and his big flip. It wasn't very comfortable having a butt on one side and a head on the other. So we went back to the doctor after lunch and they did a quick ultrasound...to everyones surprise...Jakson's little head is DOWN where it needs to be :) Oh my gosh, I was sooooo excited. Even the ultrasound tech was shocked bc from the looks of my stomach you can't tell. It seems that Jakson is laying with his head down, his body is on the right side of my stomach and then his legs flip around to my left side. He is facing my back but turned to look at the camera and we saw his face!! It was so crazy...I can't wait to kiss that sweet face and hold him :) It doesn't look very comfortable but it is how he wants to lay. I am so thrilled and praising the Lord!! After the way I slept last night, I really think he JUST did this flip. My belly now looks pretty normal and I slept so great last night.

Jakson's room is ready for him...I have our bags packed and ready to go...haha, I am so ready for my little guy to make his big appearance!! Josh and I are so thrilled that it is getting so close.

I have been so thankful for having such a healthy pregnancy and I ask that you would pray that it continues throughout the end of it. Also, keep Jakson in your prayers...we appreciate them all.

We will finish our maternity pictures with my cousin Les this weekend. As soon as I get them, I will post them! She is so awesome and I can't wait to see them!

35 weeks :)

Can't believe I'm 8 months pregnant!

Haha, I just had to take this picture. He always gets in a ball on one side of my belly but this tops them all. Haha, I looked down and just had to grab my camera. 32 weeks and 2 days.

32 weeks prego :)

Josh and I at our "nacho" average baby shower!

Josh and I at the North Georgia Fair

Jr dancing at the Fair :]

Our new fence! This is the one of the gates to the fence.

This is what the rest of the fence will look like when he finishes it this weekend.

Our new fenced-in yard with 2 happy pups :)

I can't believe how close we are getting...less than 2 months away! Anyways, things are going well for us. Josh and my father-in-law built us a fence this past weekend and the dogs LOVE it! They get to stay outside and play! Unfortunately it started to rain again this week so if we do let them out they have to get a bath right after they play! But they are so excited to be able to run free outside.
I have three more weeks of babysitting and then I am taking a little break for some me time before the little boy makes his big arrival! My sleep is pretty crazy these days. Josh and I discovered that I sleep very well if I have a bath and my full body pillow. So we might just have to deal with a massive water bill before this baby gets here, haha.

We had our last baby shower a couple of weeks ago and got so many wonderful gifts. Josh and I truly feel blessed to have such amazing friends and family!

Josh and I went to the North Ga Fair last week with the my twin and her hubby and boys, and we had a blast. Billy Currington was in concert and he was awesome :)
This weekend we are celebrating my mom and Jr's birthdays, I can't wait!

Taking a step out of my comfort zone..

So, the Lord just continues to amaze me everyday. As some of you know, when Josh and I first got married it was a hard move for me out to Cartersville. Even though I was with my best friend and the man I love and only anywhere from 35 minutes to an hour away from my family and friends, I just felt SO far away. It was hard, but I knew that I had to trust God through it. After not feeling so involved and a part of the church we were attending, we decided to look around and see what else we could find. The Lord led us to try Tabernacle Baptist Church. It was more like a church that we were both raised in and we LOVED that it had Sunday School classes. We have started getting involved in that and are really loving our class that we are in now. Josh and I really feel like that is where we need to be right now. Surprisingly, I actually did something that required me to step out of my comfort zone. I went to the women's league bible study sign up in Cartersville- all by myself!! I was immediately comforted when I walked in and saw my first sunday school teacher and my current teacher. I found a bible study that sounded right for me. It is a Beth Moore study- LOVE HER! It is called a woman's heart and it is a look into the Tabernacle. It started last week and I know that this is the study God wants me to be in. The homework is a lot but I find myself fascinated at what I learn with each day. I know the Lord is going to reveal so much to me through this Bible Study. I am doing it with a group of about 7 ladies and with my being the youngest and the only one without a child YET...I know I am going to learn so much from them. I am so excited about what God has in store for me! Alrighty...thats about it. God is so awesome :)

Lately...

So this past weekend was filled with birthday celebrations! We started it out doing dinner at my parents house for Chrissi, Josh, Tonya and Natalie...we have lots of birthdays in September! We cooked out hamburgers and hotdogs, and had some yummy guac and desserts :) What a fun night with my family!!

Then on Friday we went out with some friends for chrissi and Josh's bdays. We started out eating at Frontera and then went bowling! Of course, that is always good times! Josh loves to bowl and I know he was so happy to finally get to bowl! I was horrible, but everyone else did really well, haha, oh well!!

Saturday was Josh's birthday!! He is 24 years old :) We woke up that morning and I told him what his surprise was...I was taking him to big canoe for the weekend. I had gotten a cabin for us until Monday. We decided to go to downtown cartersville for breakfast. We never go down there when the cute little shops and diners are open! We checked out Ross' Diner and LOVED it. It had such the small town diner atmosphere and some YUMMY biscuits and hashbrowns. We will be going back for sure!! We then packed up for Big Canoe and headed to our neice Natalie's 2nd birthday party! It was so much fun. They had a huge 15 ft waterslide in the backyard and LOTS of pizza :) They did a great job on her party! Unfortunately Josh and I had to leave early to make it to Big Canoe!

What an adventure we had that night...

We checked in at 4:30 and got our condo key and headed there! It was a cute little condo with a great view of the golf course and lake. It had a screened in porch and regular porch. BUT there was one problem...from the moment we walked in it just smelled musty and like it hadn't been opened up in about a year. AND to make it worse, the toilet had green mildew growing on it! YUCK! Josh and I knew we couldn't take it for the weekend. Our throats were already starting to hurt. So long story short after going back and forth with housekeeping and the lady on the emergency cell of big canoe, we finally told her we wanted a new place. So she came back up and said the only place they had available was a 2 bedroom, 3 bathroom house on top of the mountain. But we would have to pay for the upgrade and we could deal with trying to get that taken away next week, but she couldn't make us any promises. Ugh, what a pain. So at 7:30 we finally got checked in and headed out to dinner before going to our house bc we were starving!! We went to Appalachia Grill and had a YUMMY YUMMY dinner! We decided we could splurge bc of our rough night and it was Josh's birthday! haha :)

We then went to the grocery store to get some food for the rest of the weekend. Sunday was spent just enjoying one another. We did some exploring and went to the pool and lake and relaxed. Played some banangrams and watched Runaway Bride! Haha, I know it doesn't sound too exciting but we really had a blast. When we get into the routine of being here we sometimes forget how important that time with each other really is in a marriage! I love my husband and am so thankful for him!! He does so much to take care of me and soon to be Jakson too! He works so hard and I am so blessed to be married to a man who loves me so much and takes care of my every need. I love him so much and can't wait to see what the Lord continues to do in his life. He is going to be a daddy in a couple of months and I can't wait to watch him :) I LOVE YOU JOSH!!

Monday we woke up and were lazy with each other and then checked out and headed home to get our pups!! We then went back to andrew and tonya's to take advantage of the slide that was still at their house!

Phew, What a wonderful weekend!!

My First Baby Shower for Jakson

This weekend I had my first baby shower. It was thrown by Chrissi, Ashley, Tonya, Summer and Tricia. They did such an awesome job! It was at 10 am, so we had yummy breakfast food! The decorations were brown and blue and were sooo cute! It is things like this that make me feel so very blessed :) We got so many great presents! Some of which include my baby sling, bouncer, pack and play, stroller, backpack carrier, crib, decorations, toys, bedding, books and essentials for me and Jakson! I love my family and friends and am so thankful for them and all that they do for Josh and I!!

Jakson sure is starting to get big and strong. This morning he discovered the right place to kick my ribs :) He is always making me laugh bc he is always on one side of my stomach. It always looks like a have a lump on one side.

This is a busy and exciting week! Thursday morning we have our 28 week appointment and it is my big sister's b-day! We are doing dinner at my parents house to celebrate Josh, Chrissi, Natalie, and Tonya. September is a big month for our family! Then on Friday we are going out for Chrissi's bday with some friends for dinner and bowling. Saturday is Natalie's bday party and is also Josh's birthday! I have a surprise for him for the weekend that I think he will enjoy...and I can't wait :)

What the Burfitts have been up to~

I just realized that I haven't really blogged in a while. Honestly, it's only because I feel like I am the only one who reads it :) Josh won't even read my blog...oh well! Ash and I had a good talk about how blogging will be a fun way to show our kids what we were up to all of the time!

I can't believe the summer is already over and school is back in session! I feel like it totally flew by! I got to go to the beach a couple of weeks ago with my family...we went to Blue Mountain Beach, right outside of seaside. Mom and Dad got us a house with a pool and about a 1 minute walk to the beach! It was so much fun and I am so glad that we were all able to do that. I really do love every minute that I get to spend with my awesome family! We sure did miss all of the ones who weren't able to make it though!

I am currently 24 weeks pregnant..or around that..haha, who knows how far along I really am?! Jakson sure is growing. It's fun because I am figuring out his schedule, Like how at night he is WIDE awake and kicking :) Josh and I just sit there at night and watch him squirm about like crazy! I love it and it makes me tear up every time Josh just grins watching and feeling his little boy! I am going to be an emotional one the day that boy is born..haha, I already am! We finally ordered some bedding last night from Pottery Barn. This past weekend we got his room all cleaned out and ready to start making it into Jakson's room. So far, we have blinds! haha, but they sure are pretty blinds :) Josh and I registered a couple of weeks ago and had sooo much fun with it. We felt pretty lost and dumb since we had no clue what to get, but at least we had fun together! So if anyone has any advice, I'll take it!

One of my best friends, Lindsey, is getting married in a week and a half and I am so stinking excited! Last friday was her bachelorette party and we had a blast. She is so cute and I am so excited for her and Matt...and I can't wait to visit them...at the beach :) But I sure am going to miss my friend!

I think that's about it, nothing too exciting!
