...i mean, how cute is that face :)
i was pretty bummed when it started snowing on Friday and ruined our girls game night. but of course i have enjoyed being stuck in the house with my two boys! i had already made my oreo truffles to bring to girls night. so yes, i think i have already eaten 6 myself...i must get them out of my house ASAP. ugh, i swear, breastfeeding screws up my hormones and makes me crave chocolate 24/7!! i am baking brownies about twice a week these days. its horrible. and SO not good for my figure :) at least i am running a few times a week i guess... (:
so we got jaks out in the snow to take pictures and that's about it. it was falling on his face and he wasn't a fan. the dogs were a little skeptical about it at first but then loved it...only because it was like crushed up ice so they enjoyed eating it- crazies!
today i haven't left the house. we got up this morning and josh made me a yuuummy breakfast and we hung out and were lazy together :) Then I was sooo productive. I went through Jakson's clothes and took ones out that are getting too small(tear, sniff, sniff..) and put some clothes up that he will be wearing VERY soon. I can't believe how big he is getting, seriously!! I still want him to fit in his preemie clothes, haha. Since he still isn't sleeping in his room it was turning into more of a storage room. So i worked on that and got all of his new toys and books organized. And I cleaned bathrooms and the kitchen, and vacuumed, did laundry... i am proud of myself if you can't tell. I just love starting a week off with a clean house. makes me happy inside!
i was a little bummed that the snow and cold weather canceled my long run with the ladies this weekend. so i have to do that tomorrow...hopefully it will warm up a little and if it doesn't I guess I will have to make a trip to the gym. oh treadmill...how i do not like you.
Josh is at the store right now getting things to make calzones tonight...i am SUPER excited :) i love lazy nights at home with my family!
We had a visitor this afternoon. One of my good friends Lindsey, who i haven't seen in FOREVER came over today to see baby J(that's what she calls him and i love it). It was so wonderful seeing her and catching up. I just love her so much and have really missed her. We had a wonderful visit and Frank was super excited to see her. Franky loved Lindsey and he missed her just as much as I had missed her!! Here is jaks with Lindsey...ignore the creeper in the background :)

My husband, my best friend.

So I know that Valentines is this weekend and even though Josh and I don't really celebrate it, I do want to take a minute to talk about my hubby.
We met on a blind date. It was a double date and I really enjoyed his company and he made me laugh the entire night. I was recently single and was enjoying being single. So needless to say, he was calling and texting me and I wasn't really giving anything back. I ignored him for about a month while I explored the single world and dated around...
I decided to give him a call one day and we agreed to meet for lunch during the week. We went to panera and had some good conversation. My birthday was a few days later and I hadn't invited him to go out with us since he would have only really known me and I didn't want to have an awkward night. I was getting ready to go out and some flowers were delivered to my door. My mom had already read through the card and had a huge smile on her face when I read it. They were from Josh :) I called him quickly that night and then went to his work the next day on my red bull shift to "deliver red bulls." Ok, really it was to see Josh...
We were both out of town for Christmas but we talked on the phone and texted each other the entire time. It was on that trip that I really 'fell' for him. Our conversation was just so natural and it just felt comfortable. I was really thinking, wow this could totally be the one. We started dating as soon as we got back and yup, 7 months later we were engaged.
I just LOVE Josh with all of my heart.
He is a wonderful man who is strong in his faith. He loves the Lord with all of his heart and I know will do an amazing job raising our family up in the Lord.
He is such a hard worker. I am so lucky to be able to be at home with Jakson everyday. We trust in the Lord and know that this is what we are being called to do and we know that he will provide for us.
Not only is he a hard worker on the job but also at home. He is always fixing or making things. His newest project is making us a headboard and footboard. I am super excited about this one.
If I ask him to do something for me or for someone else, he does it with no hesitation.
He is always making me laugh.
He is honest...sometimes, too honest :)
He is sooo good lookin'. I can't believe that I snagged him ;)
He loves me and Jakson.
He is an amazing father. I just love watching him with Jakson. Watching the two of them together just brings tears to my eyes. I love my boys soooo very much! He is always helping me out with Jakson. From the moment Jakson was born if I ask Josh to do anything he will do it.
He is my best friend and soul mate :)
I LOVE YOU JOSHUA EARNEST BURFITT

What Jakson's been up to...
Well first off, for the past few weeks he has been sleeping "like a baby." It has been amazing. If we are home all night he goes to bed at 10:30. If we were in the car coming home from somewhere he goes to bed about 12. He wakes up anywhere from 4-8...it has been amazing!! He is really getting anywhere from 6-8 hours of sleep. His momma is LOVING it!!
Also, his new discovery is sucking his hand...ohh no! He won't take a pasi but he is constantly trying to lift his hand to search for that thumb. He is sucking on his knuckles right now bc he hasn't quite figured out the thumb but he is working on it! Last night on our way home from the super bowl party we had the music off and for about 30 minutes we laughed while we listened to Jakson trying to suck on his hand until he fell asleep. Of course, I don't want him to be a thumb sucker but he won't take a pasi and how do you stop him from sucking on his hand...?!?! Here are a couple of pictures of him trying to get that hand in his mouth.

A couple of weeks ago we went to the zoo with Mimi, Jr and Colton. Jakson slept for most of it but it was a beautiful day and so great to get out. Jr and Colton loved it and it was so sweet watching how excited they would get when they would see the animals. We had a great time and I am so glad that Mimi took us! She even got Jakson an adorable stuffed giraffe for his first trip to the zoo! He loves it :)
We also had Colton's 1st birthday party! I can't believe that sweet boy is already 1! Colton is such a cutie and I have loved watching him grow over the past year. I love living so close to family and being able to be in their lives as they grow up! Colton is such a sweet boy. It is so cute watching him with Jakson. He is very interested and is always wanting to grab and kiss him! It is very entertaining to watch.
Unfortunately Josh wasn't able to make it to the party because he was sick, but we had a great time! Ash and Matthew did a great job throwing his first birthday. Instead of getting presents they raised money for Compassion and raised $500. I thought that was so awesome that they did that and really respect them for that. Here are a few pictures from the party!
This past Saturday Josh and I went to his parents house so they could babysit Jakson for a little while. We hung out for a couple of hours and then Josh and I headed out and did some shopping and ate dinner. It was great to get some alone time with my hubby. I know that is so important every now and then. I miss Jakson every second but I really love getting to focus just on Josh and that time with one another. It was wonderful getting to spend some time with the Burfitts and Jakson had so much fun with them :) He didn't really take a bottle well while I was gone so that makes me a little nervous. I think I should start giving him bottles more often so he will take them with no problems. Here are some pictures that my mother-in-law took.

yummm...chocolate chip cookie brownies, yes please!!
boy do i love to bake. it puts me in my happy place. and don't worry, eating them after does too :)
i was inspired to make these yummy delights after a friend brought us some when we came home from the hospital. hers were from a box but i wanted to make them a little more "semi-homemade." so i took my cookie recipe (it's delicious) and a boxed brownie mix and combined the two.
Ingredients:
for cookies-
2 sticks unsalted butter
2 1/4 cups bread flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 cup sugar
1 1/4 cups dark brown sugar packed
1 large egg
1 large egg yolk
2 tablespoons milk
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
for brownies-
brownie box mix
whatever the box mix says you need :)
First make the cookies...
pre-heat the oven to what your brownie box instructs
Melt the butter in a heavy-bottom medium saucepan over low heat. Sift together the flour, salt, and baking soda and set aside.
Pour the melted butter in the mixer’s work bowl. Add the sugar and brown sugar. Cream the butter and sugars on medium speed. Add the egg, yolk, 2 tablespoons milk and vanilla extract and mix until well combined. Slowly incorporate the flour mixture until thoroughly combined. Stir in the chocolate chips.
Chill the dough.
Now make your brownie mix and pour it in your 8x8 dish.
take spoonfuls of cookie dough and push down into the brownie batter. the more cookies you put in the better :)
bake using the directions on your brownie box.
and enjoy :)

2 Month check up & 10 weeks old :)
So today was the big day. We went in for Jakson's 2 month check up and his first round of shots :(
I was a nervous wreck before getting the shots and kept changing my mind on if I should get them now or delay them..So many different opinions these days and it is hard to know who to believe! My doubts just started last night and only after reading what the people who are totally against them had to say. So after talking to the doctor and other people who we trust, Josh and I made the decision to get them. We feel like in the long run that is what is best for Jakson. I know that the Lord is taking care of him and has his hand over his precious little life. Last night while I was holding him and about to lay him down for bed, I just prayed over him. I know that the Lord is protecting my little boy. We only got 2 shots and we will get the other 2 the next time we go to the doctor. We got the 2 that the doctor felt was most important for him to have at this point.
As soon as I looked at the needles I started tearing up and got all flustered. I couldn't even watch him get them, I just held his little hand and kissed his sweet little red face! As soon as they were done I picked him up and he immediately started to calm down...that is one of my favorite parts about being a mommy. He knows me and loves me, and I just love that feeling. I nursed him as soon as the nurse left the room and he seemed to be just fine. He is still sleeping so hopefully he will be back to his normal little self as soon as he wakes up.
His 2 month(10 week) stats are:
weight- 10 lbs 6 oz- 25 percentile
height- 22 1/4"- 25 percentile
head- 15 3/4- 50 percentile
So we basically concluded that Jakson is our short chunker with a big head, hahah. just kidding!!
The doctor said Jakson looks great and seems to be in perfect health :) I was happy that he told me to take Jakson off of Zantac. He said that since he doesn't seem to be in any pain spitting up then there is no need for him to be on meds for it. He usually smiles when he spits up, haha. I was very happy to take him off of the Zantac and I wasn't really giving it to him anyways :) He said that he should grow out of it when he starts walking and eating solid food!
Well, he is starting to wake up now so I am going to go!

Polar Bear 5K
As some of you may know, me and my sisters and our mom are training for a half marathon in April. So as part of our training we all ran a 5K in Marietta this weekend. Josh was out of town quail hunting so Jakson and I stayed at Mimi and Pop's house. The night before the race Jakson decided to be a night owl and I got a total of 4 hours of sleep. But it is so worth it when I get to stay up with him and just stare at that sweet smile all night.
We had a little too much fun on the run and we brought a camera with us, haha. My sister's neighbor Lori also joined us on the run. Our cousin Michael started out with us but ended up leaving us in the dust, haha. My dad watched Jakson and they cheered us on :) I could of pushed Jakson in the run but it was really cold and I didn't want him getting sick. Here are the pictures from the race :)
Isn't Michael a little Justin Beiber look-a-like!
Wooohoooo on the run!
Ok, so maybe we all do a little too many thumbs up, haha.
After the race
Jr eating his bagel
Jr holding his cousin, baby jakson
Mimi was taking pictures of Jakson on the way home from the race...I love my little guy!!
